REception Quality vs Original Droid Incredible

Looking at phone options for my next upgrade. I like the fact that the Incredible 4g has a smaller screen than most of the other new phones. I have an original incredible and it has been a good phone expect for the horrible cell reception (not 3g). I know it is not just my phone since I have had a few different Incredibles. I live in a very rural area with spotty Verizon coverage and no 4g coverage, however my wife has an iPhone and she can make calls places I can't even send a text. Does anyone know if the new Incredible 4g might have a better radio so that it can be used to make calls and send txts in low reception areas.

Thanks

You realize that most stores have "femtocells" or "repeaters" so that all phones will get GREAT reception in the store, right?

when I was looking at phones a couple of weeks ago you could look at the quality of the signal on both the rezound and the nexus. The nexus' signal was horrible. This guy was about to walk out and I was trying to tell him how bad it is but he didn't care. said he wanted the screen

I'm not sure that is saying to much. I had the Org Inc and the Inc 2 now and the Org Inc got much better reception then the Inc 2. Wish you could compare it to the Org Inc.

I was there today and my Orig Inc, had better reception. My Dinc was getting -94 dBm on 3G while the 4G was getting -110 dBm LTE. For comparison, the Rezound in store was getting -84 dBm LTE. The Rezound was located 20 ft away from the Dinc 4G however.

You can't compare 3G and 4G reception. I get around -84 dBm 3G in my house, but -103 dBm LTE.

Ok. I did some testing this weekend. Please keep in mind I am not a power user and I typically don't know what I am doing.

I had my original Droid Incredible side by side with a new Droid Incredible 4Lte. My worst nightmare happened when my Incredible had a much stronger signal then the Incredible 4Lte. I am talking about standard cell reception, not 4G. I went to two locations for this test.

Location 1: Know strong signal area. Droid Incredible -67dBm , Droid Incredible 4Lte -97dBm

Location 2: Know weak signal area. Droid Incredible -99dBm, Droid Incredible 4 Lte - 111dBm

So it looks like this phone is out for me!. Loved the size and feel but without decent reception I can't use it.

Can anybody else confirm this? If this is true this is a bummer. I went to the Inc2 from the Org Inc and I go to northern WI to my land. The Org Inc got much better signal strength up there then my Inc2. To the point that I have started to see if I can find an Org Inc on Ebay or Craigslist to go back to... :(

You're sure your Inc4G wasn't on LTE at the time? I have a hard time believing that the Inc4G is that much worse than the original Inc.

I assume that it was not on 4G. For my test I turned all data off on each phone. I was only trying to test cell reception. Is there a better way to test?

It's really easy to tell. Right under the signal strength it tells you what network it was using.

EDIT: Crap, I attached the wrong screen shot.

Where in No. Is? My Dinc 1 gets great reception in Marinette. It's funny, my MOTO original Droid had no reception in Marinette, but halfway across the bridge into the U.P. the MOTO Droid had full bars.
