Root Live Wallpapers? Coming soon to an Eris near you

Looking good.

Since this is a topic regarding live wallpapers, I'll ask this. Can the iPhone do this, perhaps with a Jailbreak, maybe? If not, why not?

Just wanted to know if other manufacturers or OS companies, or whatever, catch on to this trend and start imitating what Android did.

I know Android isn't the pioneer with this live wallpaper stuff, but they certainly seem to have mastered it which may make those without N1s or Android phones wanting them.

Meh, im rooted here and it doesn't really look like anything special to me. Not going to give up sense and my 7 home screens for moving pictures and slowing my phone down.

Besides there's only the one in the download on xda and I hear ya loose it if the phone sleeps.

Lets see someone put it in a rom instead of a patch that doesn't have the bug that needs a work around then I'll try em'.

The issue with live wallpapers involves OpenGL and an issue with our kernel. It won't be fixed until someone can recompile our kernel to work right with OpenGL.

There's quite a few live wallpapers in the Market that don't use OpenGL, however, and they all work perfectly fine - you won't lose them when the phone sleeps.

Live wallpapers don't slow down the phone though. Mine runs just like it does with a static wallpaper. I loved Sense previously, but I recently discovered Helix Launcher. In the past I had tried tons of different home replacements and didn't like them, but I love Helix. You can have more than 3 screens with most home replacements as well.

yeah, but all the cool lwp use OpenGl... Lol.
Is there any way to check which lwp on the market use OpenGL or is it just a matter of trial and error?
