So on my droid x and almost every android I've ever touched, I can do a long press of the search button on the far right and the voice digitizer pops up regardless of what app I'm in. The S3 has no search button like previous androids. Given all of the s-voice sucks discussion, how do you activate the stock google voice search without having to launch it from an app icon?

The only way I can think of is to hold the menu button and bring up the regular search app then click the microphone button, unless S Voice replaced it, which in case you can double press the home button.

That's going to be difficult and distracting if I try to do that while driving. I don't look at the phone when using google voice search most of the time.

In all the things I researched when deciding to upgrade to these that could have been issues, I'd never even considered that I wouldn't be able to globally launch google voice search. Every android I've ever used has had this ability. Bummer. I hope there's a solution to be found before I send them back. I'll give it to just be fore my two weeks is up before sending them back.

You could see how s voice works for you. I haven't tried it as I don't use voice recognition.
