I ordered the Seidio Active with kickstand (no holster) today in Garnet Red and it's been shipped. Here it is for any latecomers to the thread:

I had a black Otterbox Commuter for my previous DX. That was an excellent case but I wanted something a little different this time.

I can now "second" the good review for the Seidio Active case. I received it today and can say that the website photos accurately represent how it looks (except it's nicer than the pictures can detail). Just to add a few comments:

- Since the phone is so thin, what bulk that's added by the case is very acceptable. The case does add a little more heft to the phone, though -- just enough to make it feel more solid (IMO).

- The two side buttons (the volume rocker and the power switch) are both covered by the silicone portion of the case. However, surprisingly, they are *as easy to press* with the cover on as without. I was surprised by this because I've had cases in the past that made them more difficult to press. Not so with this one. If there's any difference, it's so negligible as to be not worth mentioning.

- I didn't read the description carefully on the Seidio website, so I was also surprised (in a good way) that the exoskeleton has a rubberized coating. It looks metallic (I thought it would just be shiny plastic and a little slippery), and yet it's rubberized. This gives the case a very excellent grip.

- The kickstand is equally nice. It's magnetic and spring-loaded, so the way it crisply pulls out and snaps back in has that well-made feel. It also looks nicer in appearance than on the website. I was a little concerned about how it might look but I can now say it's an excellent addition/feature to the case. The only drawback is that the kickstand will only work in landscape. It isn't designed to hold the phone in both landscape and portrait. Obviously, landscape is the most useful orientation, though.

- All of the cutouts are well-fitting. The headset, 2 mics, USB, camera, flash and speaker are cut with precision. IMO the case makes the somewhat drab cam/speaker section look very sleek. The overall fit of the case is also very snug.

- In front, the menu, back and home buttons are all easily accessible, and the lip around the screen is just right for good protection without being in the way.

My guess is that many who haven't considered this case would find it to be extraordinary and eye-popping if they saw it in person, though I realize it wouldn't fit everyone's tastes, of course. It's very well designed and manufactured with attention to detail. It has a high-end look-and-feel in person: Good construction coupled with tasteful color, it has a luxurious, professional and yet sporty quality about it beyond what the photos represent. While I just received the case (so I don't have any long-term opinion of it at this time), I can say that I like the Seidio Active much better than the Otterbox Commuter that I had on my previous Droid X -- and that's not to slight that fine case (which had port covers as well). So I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a standout case.

I am very happy with my Superleggera. Its a nice combo of size and protection and is a well made tight fitting case that makes for easy button pushing. I have the black that covers my blue sg3 and I've been pleased with the result.

I got the Verizon/Belkin white "high gloss silicone" case someone mentioned and I happen to really like it The color is nice and solid and the cuts are perfect with ample space (the ones on the back are beveled, btw). You won't have trouble pressing the buttons as they are easy to push and make a satisfying click. The case fits well, doesn't add much bulk at all and feels really smooth. There's also a little Belkin logo man on the bottom of the back which is a nice, subtle touch. At $20, I think this is a great phone case for those who want a bit of protection (back, sides, front with a lip) but don't really want to deal with the sea of products out there. I suppose you could go for the whole Ebay case thing but I find that it's really hit-or-miss with those and I didn't want to wait 1 week+ for protection.

Not yet...but I just may break out my new USB on the go cable tomorrow and see if I can vet a few pics off of my Nikon DSLR onto the GS3 and onto Picasa and then onto this thread.

Mine arrived today as well and i totally agree with everything you said. Cutouts are spot on and the power and volume controls are easy to push the case looks exactly like the one i had on my captivate. Quality build and i recommend it to anyone looking for a case for there phone.

I might consider a hybrid case, but they all seem to use silicone. Even when it's just around the front of the phone, I find it to be way too grippy. Does anyone know of a hybrid case that uses TPU instead?

I just discovered this - uses TPU instead of silicone. Looks very nice.

In this video review of the Incipio Silicrylic Dual Pro, the guy categorizes the case as 'medium duty' and compares it to the Speck Candyshell which he describes as only 'light duty' in another video. This got me thinking about how protective the various cases are.

Has anyone seen a droptest with this case? I've heard somewhere that the corners crack with impact, and in the video the outer shell can be seen to be connected only by the four corners. I can't help thinking that the case could fly apart in a heavy impact/drop. I think I prefer the cases where you have to struggle to assemble it, squeezing the power button through a hole in the outer shell. Struggle to assemble it = struggle to separate it in an impact?

The guy really likes the yellow/grey model, and I have to say it looks striking. I'm not sure it's really me though, and in some of the places in London that I frequent I wouldn't really want to draw too much attention to my expensive phone...

The case review is OK I guess but the guy "calls out" incipio @ 3:55 into the video. Saying that the case is not pliable as the directions state. I really would have liked for him to balls up and bend it in half!

Has anyone found a good case that is protective yet thin enough to allow for a dock, specifically a gps style car dock? I really don't want to to take off the case every time I set it up in the car. however, I haven't purchased a dock yet either. so maybe there are docks that will allow for cases. Anyone had any experience doing this for the GS3 yet?

I may be in the minority here but I really WANT/NEED a case with a belt clip. BUT all the current ones i can find clip on with the screen hidden away. I want to use my phone as my MP3 player and constantly change and play with the music. Kinda shocked i cant find one.
For the record i have 4 cases so far for my GS3 and really like the Fosmon cases and the Kay's Case, for the price they can't be beat and the buttons are covered BUT easy to press and the cutouts for USB, mic, cam etc...all fit perfect, for 5-10 dollars on amazon or Ebay they are the way to go.

Here's my unprofessional and blurry review of the Seido Sirface case for the S3. On page 6 of this thread there's a picture I took showing the 1mm thickness, as well as a video of the Surface case for the Rezound, which has a bit better video quality.

Thanks for the review. I just received the Seidio Surface case yesterday to replace the cheap Cimo TPU case I was using.

I really like this case; it's very well made and fits the S3 like a glove, with a good lip and protection all around (corners included). And it is secure; it won't come apart if it falls. The feel is very nice, almost comforting.

As I've mentioned in several posts, rather than feeling like the phone is in a case, it feels more integrated and just makes it feel lke a solidly built phone.

I have what appears to be the same case. I ordered mine off of Ebay only it came from China. It did take about 10 days to get here but it was also only $2.99 shipped. TPU Gel Case Cover Skin Stand /Screen Protector For Samsung Galaxy S3 III i9300 | eBay

I like it, a lot! It fits very well, holes all line up, buttons work pretty well. It's very comfortable in the hand and doesn't add too much to the bulk of the case. While I've only used the kickstand a couple of times it can come in handy from time to time. And while it does stick out a little from the back of the case it doesn't bother me at all. About the only complaints I would have is that depending on which micro USB charger I'm using, it can be a little difficult to plug into the USB port. I use 3 different chargers depending on where I am and one doesn't fit easily while the others do. Also, because the area along the edges are textured it's a little difficult to feel where the power button is. It sort of blends in with the surface around it even though it is clearly set apart from the surrounding area. It's not so bad that I can't deal with it but there have been a few times when I went to turn it on or off and sort of missed the button. That will likely change as I get more used to the case. Seeing as I have about half a dozen cases to choose from it's going to take a while to get used to this one. But so far I've used this one more than any of the others.

That Incipio Faxion looks like an excellent case. Too bad its colors don't match the phone very well. A blue/blue combo would be ideal for me.

I bit the bullet and purchased from a Verizon corporate a blue Belkin case. $21.11 was a bit steep, but I'll probably use it for as long as it's in good enough condition. The case's color is closer to that of the home button than the phone's body, which accentuates rather than duplicates the phone's body color.

I grabbed the case from the back of the peg and its cut-outs match all of the required places on the phone; everything is almost perfectly centered. It's amazing what a little quality control does for a piece of flexible plastic...

Based on my experience with this case so far, I may just end up returning the Diztronic case I have ordered. We'll see when it gets here, but I'm thinking the uncovered buttons will prove to be that case's deal-breaker.
