Any new phone rumors for Sprint?

That's why part of me thinks that the reason Motorola is coming out with a qwerty phone for the supposed "follow-up" to the Photon is because they're possibly thinking of making a Motorola Nexus phone. I just don't know if I'm patient enough to see that happen before November. I have until December to take advantage of my last 1 year upgrade.

HTC, Samsung, and Motorola would most definitely be on board if the rumor proves true. The big question is who the other two would be? My money is on LG and Huawei. I don't think Sony is willing to give up the control necessary for a pure Android phone, and ZTE isn't as big as Huawei (and Huawei is making a very aggressive push into countries outside of Asia).

I think that's pretty accurate, although Huawei hasn't really made that much noise over here...yet. I think the 5th company might be up in the air with whoever comes up with the most innovative concept. Bnice's idea of Asus sounds good to me. I really love the idea of the Padfone and I'd give that a shot, if it were available on Sprint.

Samsung, HTC, Motorola, & LG should be locks...That is, if they do really plan on following the "multi-nexus device" theme.

Good theory. Also, Samsung is announcing the next Note in Aug.

I agree. I'm guessing Samsung, HTC, Motorola, Asus, and LG are going to be part of the project.

As much as I'd want to say that Sprint would carry all of them, part of me feels like it'll initially be GSM providers would be easier for this to happen with, since the phones would only need to be unlocked and have a SIM card slot, in order to work with a US GSM provider (e.g. ATT or T-Mobile). And another thing to take into consideration is, how do they make all of those Nexus phones LTE compatible, if they all have to be set to different radios? It's a big task. Realistically, we may not see this happen in the close future. A couple years down the line, maybe.

The multiple devices is supposed to include tablets. I am hoping it is a nexus 7, a nexus 10, and 3 phones one of which I hope is from Motorola. If that happens I'll be getting the Moto nexus phone and a nexus 10

Very good point. It was just an assumption based on what I thought would be the most cost effective, but we'll see what happens.

Man, it was so simple with the original AMPS system. By law your phone covered every (all 2) carrier and band, and you could change carriers at will without having to do anything special. Deregulation sucks, big time.

I'm looking forward to being a spectator for the next few years as all of these new bands and technologies get rolled out. Wireless telcos seem perfectly happy to buy expensive new data plants to use for a year, then replace it with a totally incompatible one. They're not even trying to do graceful transitions, and we all know who will suffer from that. I just wonder where all of that last year's high speed data equipment goes.

On the phone level, it's going to be fun seeing how they can make a phone with a dozen or so radios and internal antennas for each, almost as many modulation schemes, more bells and whistles, and put it in a slim profile where the battery lasts more than an hour. It's like trying to sit on your suitcase to close the catch. Pretty soon something has to give.

The 5th could be Sony, they were the original OEM chosen for the Second Nexus with the Xperia Play device, but later Samsung got it.

look for some sort of announcement from them at the end of August (per the online stuff u may or may not have read about the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy Note 10.1)

I'm almost ready to give up on dreams of any kind of Note coming to Sprint. Since the release of the first one, other carriers getting it had been wishful thinking. (this guy has been right on all of the sammy releases since the s2...and usually has a device in hand 30-60 days prior to launch, thus pictures/info etc that I have posted in the past on those devices prior to their launch)

It would be sweet if Motorola and HTC were producing Nexus phones by the end of the year. I'd have some serious choices to make. So far, with my disappointment that the MoPho successor looks to be a QWERTY slider, I'm left with the LTEvo as my only serious choice for my last 1 year upgrade to be used by the end of the year. Not that I'm complaining much because I really like that LTEvo.

Motorola Photon Q is one of the rumored QWERTY phones and only "superphone" that's been talked about w/ a physical qwerty. I'm anticipating that this will be the next superphone launched, now that the SGS 3 has been officially out for a couple weeks. My prediction would be 1st weekend of August or possibly mid-August, given the fact that the white LTEvo was just released on 7/15.

There was also a mid-range LG qwerty being rumored, as well as a mid-range Samsung qwerty being rumored.

I'm pretty sure all of those have been discussed at some point in this thread.

Looks like Galaxy note 2 will be released on August 30, according to this website, but I haven't found any official information confirming this and/or which providers will be getting it (or if it'll still be ATT exclusive):
