Must use the earphones as an aerial.
Despite being 10m for Central London, outside & with the wire in all angles, I've only picked up 3 radio stations. It's worse than the experimental radio 1st offered on my last mobile around 10 years ago.
If my radio is normal I'm tempted to send it back. You can't advertise something as a radio if it gives 3 not 100 stations. (I've recently bought a earphone radio at the pound shop, works fine).
I wouldn't mind, but the S3 has such odd taste, only offering radio 3 & 2 talky sporty stations.
