So how stupid is it, really?

Hi guys.

I'm currently strongly considering buying myself a HTC Legend. This phone has pretty much everything I want/need and I am quite fond of the form factor. The only problem is that I can't help but feel slightly stupid for not buying a Desire instead, since I can probably get one for just 30Euros more.

I mean most importantly it has a faster CPU, more RAM and a bigger display with higher resolution. If I'm honest, I can definitely do without that impressive display it has, but it just feels a little stupid to know that if I buy a Desire I could have a CPU about 33% faster and roughly 200MB more RAM, AND a bigger/better display.

Is there something, anything, I'm missing that the Legend has going for it but the Desire doesn't? If someone was to tell me right now that the batterytime on the Legend is much better than on the Desire, I would take that as a big plus :)

Otherwise it's feels like buying the Legend is hands down choosing form factor over raw horsepower under the hood, something I would never have expected myself to do...

I feel exactly the same to be honest. Why cant they produce a smartphone that has a good form factor AND high end specs?Too much to ask i guess.

so far it seem though as if the processor is fast enough to mkae the Legend UI look as fast as the Desire. Probably due to the lower resolution. I guess I'll just test them both when they're available

I got my self a Legend this week. I ultimately went for the form factor could get it cheap with a 1 year contract. Think i can satisfy me for at least 1 year then ill look again whats out there. But it does everything i need. I dont need more ram and cpu speed when it already does anything i need with good speeds. Maybe if you play intensive 3d games the desire is your thing but i dont so Legend does fine.

Just got my Legend 2 days ago.
I was in the same dilemma: Desire or Legend?

First I absolutely wanted the Desire. Because of the bigger/better specs. I tried the Legend at a friend and it got my interest. Then I read different reviews on the net and after that I choosed the Legend without having tried the Desire.

What made me choosing the Legend over the Desire was:
- Longer battery life.
- Rumours that the bigger screen takes up so much processor power that the menus/graphics are actually not as smooth as the Legend
- Rumours that the Desire gets really hot really fast
- The looks

Two of the reasons I mention as rumours, because I never really tried the Desire, but I was finding more than one writing it, so I guessed there was something about it. I found most of the reviews on danish pages, so I guess there is not much sense in pasting links here, but most of them was on a page called telmore.dk

I got a Desire last week and only kept it for 2 days before giving it my son and then getting myself a Legend.
I have no regrets.
The Legend size and design are superb - looks great and very pocket friendly.
No noticable difference in actual speed so not suffered from slower processor.
Forget the price difference and buy the one that you like - that way you will be content!!!

I had the same dilemma when I was choosing between them a few weeks ago. I went for the Legend because it's a bit more compact and my phones tend to take a bit of a beating over a few months so the aluminium design also helped swing it for me. This phone is so solid feeling.

I don't browse with my phone very often, never ever play games on it or watch videos so the smaller display isn't really an issue.

Fits my needs perfectly.

I had a play with a Desire recently and I'm still sure I made the right choice.

Wow its good to hear all the positive views on the Legend. The size of the Desire just put me off it, could barely fit in my pocket at the shop. The Legend just felt nicer in my hand, partly due to the aluminium case and partly due to having small hands. So I bought one and have never looked back since.
