I'm still a little puzzled why Sprint would announce what is obviously their new flagship phone NOW when it won't even be available for sale for 3-4 months, nor has it passed through the FCC (as far as we know). Meanwhile, VZW's supposed Incredible has cleared the FCC and from what we've gathered so far, seems to be done with the testing phase and ready to move into production (nothing to prove that though). I can understand them not wanting to share the spot light with Sprint, but the longer they wait for the unveiling, the more ridiculous they will look. It irritates me that the EVO is getting all this buzz and is being hyped as the new killer phone, when the availability is months away! Come on, Verizon! Give us something.

How, the hell am I starting problems by giving a logical reason why VZW won't introduce the phone today?!?!?! I think the phone looks great and would probably like to get it, but just becuase I think the EVO looks great too, I'm causing problems. Jesus, lighten up!

What did JC ever do to you?

<Hopefully that bad joke will help put an end to this argument>

I don't think they scrapped it because of the EVO -- I think they scrapped it because there was major major problems with it.

Whatever.

1.) You have zero evidence that it has been scrapped, only the fact that it wasn't announced yesterday. How you connected point A to point B is bewildering.
2.) We have testers on this very forum that said the phone was, well, "incredible." Not even minor problems.

I hope that I am just being a negative Nancy.....I hope I am wrong...I want this phone as soon as possible.....but it's beginning to be the boy that cried wolf around here.....after so many disheartening "announcements" that never materialize.....I am so willing to say this thing isn't possible!

Kosmo Kramer :D It'll be okay. Really, I think you are setting yourself up for a disappointment.. It isn't the end of the world if it isn't announced today. The PHONE IS COMING (all the signs point to it) and from people who recently messed around with the phone noted ZERO major problem with it. Most didn't say of ANY problems. Just be strong and keep the faith that this phone is coming. Maybe the 27th date is the announcment date?! Who knows, but we know that it is coming and it will be sooner than later.

EDIT: I am really excited to hear from MM on the box, I think 1 of APANG's sources had a box too. I'm really looking forward to seeing if the HTC reps and what the box is all about.

Ok.

1. I agree with you; I have no evidence. The fact that no one knows anything about this phone's existence is bewildering.

2. Weren't there also rumblings about a major re-design and a December release?

I won't be an ass clown about this.....Yesterday was a major kick to the nads for me and I just feel like this is some freaky nightmare!

Hmm, I was actually hoping I'd like the EVO. It'd probably cost me the same the buy unsubsidized on VZW (on contract from a launch day Droid) or pay the ETF and get a subsidized phone on Sprint. I'd much rather support Sprint, too, since they have a huge WiMax area here in Baltimore and unbelievable plan prices.

However, that 4.3" screen is simply too large, IMO. I'd rather go 3.7" amoled for brighter colors and (at same res) sharper text. I'd also gladly take that 8GB memory, since my 16GB mem card is overflowing with music, and the 32GB cards are a bit too pricey right now.

Incredible is honestly perfectly tailored to my phone wishlist! I sincerely hope VZW doesn't get bashed if the two phones are compared, because I would DEFINITELY pick the Incredible every time, if given the choice.

Okay, BIG DISCLAIMER:

Take this post for what its worth. I debated for several days abut posting this since the information came from my local (direct) VZW store manager, and we all pretty much know that the store employees/CSR's are the last to know anything about new phones.

Since we are now talking again about what VZW employees are saying, I decided to post this.

With the above in mind, I decided to call a the manager of my local VZW store on Sunday and ask if I could leave my information, and have them contact me when the HTC ADR6300 comes in and is available for sale. I have known this manager for several years; she has hooked me up more than once with VERY early upgrades, and has readily shared info that she has about anything VZW. She remembered me right away, but told me that she isn't familiar with the ADR6300, and asked if I know what it is going to be called, and approximately when it will be released. I told her that the code name for the phone appears to be Incredible, and rumors have the release anywhere from the 27th of March through early May.

To my surprise, and with a little excitement, she said "Oh, I know that phone! That's the new, high-spec android phone, right? I would expect it to be called something else." Then she told me that she would be happy to call me when the phone is available, and said "So, I'll calendar a follow-up call with you in about 3 weeks."

Then, we had a brief conversation about some of the specs. I thanked her for agreeing to get back to me, and she made a point of saying again that we would be taking in about 3 weeks.

I definitely think she thinks she knows something, and that she was trying to let me in on it. Whether she actually knows anything, or is speculating based on rumors floating around the VZW water cooler is anybody's guess.

Could be the N1.

Same for me. And seriously man, I can't believe you're complaining that no one will send you text messages from their phone if there is any news. That's a pretty big request.

I want to start a petition to have CTIA take place in an EST location. This waiting around for all the damn westerners to wake up is pissing me off :D

lol. true.

these few hours of waiting in the morning is killin' us.

we go from the phone being in a box with a bow on it to scrapping the whole mess becuz the phone has been upstaged by somethin else that won't come out for 4 months!! we're all over the map!

we should be on suicide watch!

True

I think probably most of the blog sites have some kind of a news txt alert thing. I am almost sure www.phonearea.com does. I tried to look for it, but could not find it. Sorry!

This is my first time Posting in this Thread. The other user that was a first time responder today inspired me to post in this Thread too.

Like him i am an existing customer from back in 2002 with Verizon. In my area, that was the only one avaiable for a long time. Now other carriers are around, but they are not an option to me as i want coverage over a cool phone.

Android Phones is the first real phone's that Verizon has ever had. Before that it was Windows Mobile Phones, which has potential but never enough for me to purchase more than a basic phone. To me, anyphone with full blown Android on it is not only the first phone to compete with the Iphone, but will be the first phone to beat the Iphone as the number one sold Phone.

The beauty of Android is that it can be on any carier, as well as any brand of phone. I agree like most that HTC has one of the best phones resembling the Iphone, but Motorola is not far behind either, I'm not a Droid fan because it doesn't look nor have a good keyboard on it, but i do prefer a sliding keyboard versus an on screen keyboard.

With that being said, this weekend, my contract is up for a new phone finally!!!! and i'm going out to get the Motorola Devour. My only drawback is the 3 megapixel camera with no flash!!!! someone really dropped the ball on that, and the smaller screen is a little disapointing, but you guys have made me want an android so bad that as a first time android buyer, i'm dying inside to get one as soon as possible.

I think we all agree that the latest update is very important with a phone, but since pinch to zoom is not even available on the droid yet, the next noticable feature was brought to life in 1.6 which is Google Maps with Navigation!!! Seems like pinch to zoom is the next great feature but hopefully that will come in time.

Like someone else said, if you wait for the next great phone, you will be waiting forever. By The time 20 months comes around again for a new phone, we will all be posting about the next great 4g phone. For those of you waiting, I hope you get your wish soon. For me though, i'm at least getting an Android this Saturday Morning to Start Living the Good Life!!!

:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
