Hi,

I just had my brother pick this phone up for he and his wife. They unlocked and rooted the phone first thing using wugfresh's root toolkit.

So I told him to try this JB ROM first. I gave him my file of jb bootloader that I used for my Verizon gnex. When he tries to flash the 2.1 file it comes up with an error. I noticed that some had that problem in the rootz thread in the beginning but nobody addressed it. He has cwm recovery.

Any help would be great. Thanks.

Does your brother have the toroplus (Sprint Gnex)?

Yes he does. Sorry about that. I didn't realize that I sent him my jb bootloader for for Verizon. Would that one work or should I find the sprint one?

Yeah, that's probably the issue. I've ran VanirAOSP and it flashed/booted just fine. Also, I believe they starting doing nightlies, so you might want to check those out.

Step 1 in the rootz page for vanirAOSP is: must be on JB bootloader.

Since the phone was just purchased yesterday, he unlocked and rooted with wugfresh's toolkit.

He cannot get this rom to flash.

I'm not sure if the nandroid that he restored removed the jb bootloader that I used on my verizon gnex or not. His phone seems a bit off. He has tried to unroot with wugfresh's toolkit and flash the factory image but it couldn't do automatically and said he would have to do it manually.

Neither one of us has ADB/fastboot installed and don't know how to for that matter.

So we both are stuck at the moment and don't know where to go from here.

Do me a favor and try flashing a different Sprint JB ROM. I'd like to see if your problems are ROM specific or not.

He tried to flash perfect android rom this morning and it was the same error.

"assert failed getprop ro.product.device"

from vanir's rootz page. the goo.im download wasn't there so I used the mirror. I downloaded the only 2.1 zip. he said use the 2nd option but i only saw 1 2.1 zip file. Also, the wasn't an md5 file to verify.

on the perfect andriod rom, I was able to verify the md5.

Take a look at this thread:

Not only can you find the proper recovery image for your brother, I also give a step by step on how to flash it using fastboot. Let us know if this solves the problem and if you run into any snags.

Thanks. I will try this later. Do you know if the toolkits like wugfresh's set up adb/fast boot on your PC?

I'm not sure about Wugfresh's toolkit specifically because I'm not familiar with that root method, but you need fastboot set up on your PC to be able to unlock your phone. So yes, I'm pretty sure you already have it setup on your PC. If not, the fastboot zip is in the thread I referenced.

Still working on setting up adb/fastboot on the computer. I've dl'd the android sdk package and followed a video tutorial on how to set it up. It never specifically mentioned fastboot except in the title.

I have noticed that I do have a fastboot.exe file in my platform-tools folder and it does list my device if I type in "fastboot devices". So would I just put in the .img file in the platform-tools folder to push from there?

editfound info that answered yes to my question.
