Am I the only one that can't get ics yet? T-mobile says it came out 6/11, but very slowly(?). Kies makes no mention of ice cream sandwich and says I have the latest version of firmware (2.3.6), which I do.
Anyhody else still waiting?

You're not the only one. Same here

Hi sleendeane, welcome to the forums Dgreco.

Look in settings under about phone. What is your baseband version andd build number.

Also, the easiest way to get ICS is to just flash it with Odin. You can follow this guide.

You can download the stock ICS file from one of the links at the top of this thread. Extract it and follow the instructions in the guide the same way.

Thanx, Atmazzz-

bv=UVLDE
b#=GB.UVLDE

I'm a little bit nervous about Odin because my internet connection is flighty at best on my computer. I don't know what the problem is with that. I don't know how many times it took me to finally dl the whole Kies, which I guess was for nothing after all.
Do you agree that Odin could be risky business under my circumstances?
Thank-you

Your internet connection would only be a problem if it causes the downloaded file to be corrupt. You can check that before you flash with Odin. At the link at XDA where you download the file you'll see an MD5 number for it. (such as MD5: B6DD110BD2F6CF6AB6DFC0D834439B65) You can download a free MD5 checker and use that number to check the file.

I don't know why Kies isn't giving you the download. Your baseband and build look correct for Gingerbread.

Okay. That makes sense about the file corrupting but now I see how to check it with the md5 link that you were so kind to provide for me.
So, tomorrow will be a great day for ICS!
Thanx again.

Since Atmazzz answered all of the questions I will just crack the joke that was like the pink elephant in the room. The Ice cream sandwich that you desire is in the freezer sir!!!!! :)

Good thing or this heat would destroy it! (MO)

I have a new hard drive in my pc (500gig!) but no program to extract Odin.
Whats that one called...ar or rv or rar or something?
thank you

Hi sleedeane. What you are looking for is winrar. It is a free download and comes in 32 and 64 bit versions.

Does this look right so far:

I'm not sure what I'm looking at. It looks like you have Odin extracted. You will need to just double click the Odin 1.85 file to start it. You don't need the UVLDE file unless you're going back to Gingerbread.

So do I have the ics file downloaded right now?
Whatever I have is from the link at the top of the thread you pointed me to.
Thank you

That file name in your picture, T989UVLDE, is Gingerbread and what you already have on your phone. Do you have another file besides that one?

The links at the top of this thread, are for a zip file with this name, SGH-T989_TMB_1_20120608172207_ugy1nehf4g, when you extract that file you will get the ICS file, T989UVLE1_T989TMBLE1_T989UVLE1_HOME.tar.md5. That is the one you use with Odin.

I guess I'm too stupid to do this.

No your not. Its just a little confusing at first. Download the file from here or here. Use winrar to extract it.

Then follow this guide. Just follow the steps in the guide, except you don't need the stock UVLDE rom. You'll be using the ICS file you downloaded.

No your not. Its just a little confusing at first.

I've rooted this thing twice, 2 other phones also successfully rooted, used Odin for DS Evolution, and have been running Juggernaut on this one and back again all with no problems.
That's what is po ing me: I shouldn't be having these problems.

I ended up with the GB os dl because the link came from the one referred to as "From ICS to GB (and back again)".
I got confused in there.

I can't get past the stupid "iLivid" downloader thing. I must have that thing downloaded 5 times trying to dl the new one.
Going in circles there.

And I'm also using Windows 7 from Vista; having problems finding things like "extract to..."
Only save or run; open with winwar...?

I'll figure something out sooner or later.
You can only explain it to me so many times; it's my fault if you can't make me understand.

I'll be back.

It seems like the first "here" link is just the iLivid Download manager. Don't know of anywhere to click for actual os download. Been here about 10 times already. Round and round with a splash of road rage now.

The second "here" is the 4shared download manager (or vise versa. wtfe). No way to download file from there either. Been here done that. Round and round.

Go to this link.

When you get there, click on the button where it says 'start timer' (where I have the yellow arrow pointing). The timer will count down to 00 and you should be able to download.

Tried that. Timer button does nothing when clicked on.
There's a 30 second automatic count-down to the right of "Premium Download" that turns into "Regular Download" at zero:

When I click on "Regular Download", I'm just back to the iLivid Downloader:

I'm not sure what the problem is. When the 45 second clock counts down to 00 you should be able to download.

Do you have a different browser you could try?

Just tried Chrome.
Same problem.
Timer button does nothing (except the shade of blue of the box changes when hand pointer is on it).
No countdown, no nothing:
