Hi all,

I have updated my LG Shine to 2.3.3 but I can only access google apps and the play store when I remove the simcard and use WIFI.

If I have my simcard in and use 3G to try to access the play store, or any google apps - including those downloaded from the play store, it just fails with connection timeouts.

Note that the browser works fine on 3G though, so its not network issues.

If I remove the simcard and use WIFI, all apps work as normal.

The phone was originally Telus and is now unlocked and I am using a speakout (7 eleven) simcard so I am guessing the problems have something to do with this?

I can't find any help anywhere and its really annoying me now.

Any help much appreaciated. Thanks

7-11 Internet access is restricted to port 80. You will need to setup a proxy server to route your apps through that port. Take a read through this:

thanks buddy, this looks promising and makes sense seeing as the browser always works on 3G and using WIFI obviously takes the 3G and the APN out of the scenario when trying to use apps.

I'm a bit confused as to how SSL traffic over the browser works without issue though as surely that is going over port 443.

I'm intreagued to dump a capture with wireshark on the WIFI but the router where i'm lodging is too far away so I have to use the router at work and cannot capture packets too easily there.

Anyway I've never rooted a phone before (didn't own a smart phone till 2 weeks ago), so I need to read up on that but I'll post back how it goes when I get round to doing it.

Cheers again
