***Official HTC Incredible Thread***

Okay, I haven't been posting much lately but as the regulars might remember I've been waiting for this phone since late October. My NE2 was up that long ago. I never realized until earlier this week that Sprint roams on Verizon towers for no charge. Why SHOULDN'T I go from VZW to Sprint? Their plans seem to be cheaper per month by a goodly amount. Is it just that their phones aren't as heavily subsidized? Sprint has 4G coverage in my area too (of course that won't due me any good until Summer it sounds like).

Can you talk on Skype and still surf the web on one of the 9 phones?

According to endadget you can't even use Skype when Wifi is enabled. You actually have to shut it off to use Skype, the app won't even load.

Pretty much a piece of crap. You can only Skype over 3G and if you try to call a number inside of the country it forces the call through verizon's phone line so you are charged minutes.

Basically a worthless app except for international and Skype to Skype calls.

OK, so no incredible right now. Boo F'ing Hoo.

What is the exchange policy through VZW? From what I am hearing is that I can exchange the Droid within 30 days. Are there any fees or other penalties associated with this?

no fees it you RETURN it and wait 4 days to purchase something else. you cannot EXCHANGE it...you'll get whacked $35.

as long as you return it and sit tight for a few days (with yer old phone) you can walk in and buy something else.

this policy is being seriously looked at (and might go away in the future) according to verizon sales people and a manager i've been dealing with.

So Skype to Skype (which is what I think Verizon actually advertises) you can talk and surf as well. Wifi will probably wait till an update comes along, though its weird it doesn't work.

You would think they would have it work with WiFi as well to keep the data usage down but of course this could also be their way of boosting data usage up to justify raising prices and tiering it in the future.

Good info. Thanks! How will the NE2 work in this case? Would I be able to apply it to the Incredible after the 4 days?

That's how Skype has always operated. Skype to Skype was free but calling a regular phone cost money.

I have been following this thread daily, and have worn out my f5 just like the rest of you, but I feel the need to add my $.02.

I too was really hoping for an announcement this week, but having lived through the first Blackberry Storm, I think I may have another way of looking at all this.

I think we all know that the phone will be released in a "relatively" short time frame.
That being said, how many of you want this phone so badly, right now, that you'd be willing to take it as it is ? Meaning that the INC, much like the BB Storm1 is a first of it's kind. Therefore could be possibly riddled with bugs that have not yet been ironed out.
Much like the Storm1 everyone was so anxious to get their hands on it, and if you had an original S1, you know that that phone should not have been released as it was, only to then bash the S1 in online forums, return the device MULTIPLE times, and generally call it a failure both on the part of RIM and Verizon.

I for one, while excited to get my hands on an Incredible, am willing to be patient in the hopes that when the device is finally released, it will live up to not only it's name, but to my expectations of it.

Sorry for the rant... maybe this might help some people relax a little.

Thanks

$35 bucks but keep in mind if the Inc isn't released in 30 days your a$$ out homie.
Well, this isn't necessarily true. I bought the Droid back in the beginning of February on my NE2 and once I realized the N1 nor the Incredible would be released within 30 days, I simply returned my Droid and had them reactivate my old phone.

When one of them is released, I'll be able to go back into the store and use my NE2 again since I returned the Droid within the 30-day window.

I may be a$$ out holmes  but at least I'll have better quality font display:

Secrets of the Nexus One's screen: science, color, and hacks

You said the Droid not the N1. I could see the N1 as a compromise. If that drops I would get it (depending on if I can use my NE2, keep my family plan, exchange it if Inc comes out in 30 days etc). Droid to me is not as great as it once was (rightfully so) so I don't see my self getting that.

If you decide to pull the trigger good luck and I hope the Inc comes out in time home skillet.
