I traded in my HOX for S3 and regret it!

I just went to the darkside and I hate to say this but it fixed a lot of the problems that I was having. I think it pretty much boiled down to multitasking. I am bumbed to find the camera doesn't work out of the box as well as the HOX though. I might have to mess with it some more but so far the HOX takes better (less blurry) images than the S3.

The Good:

1) Bluetooth is working without having to turn it off and back on (its a pain when you have to mess it constantly) when syncing to my head deck in the car.

2) When I get a notification or call my AmazonMP3 app stops and STARTS back up after the other function is done. About 80% of the time with the HOX I had to restart the app and start the song OVER again..... Sometimes I would listen to the same song 3 - 4 times while driving to work

3) Its early still but I can honestly say I'm not seeing the lag between home screen like I did with the HOX. Using the same live wallpaper and widgets...

4) Easier to handle imho. The power button, volume, and cap buttons seem more responsive or at least easier to use/locate.

5) The options are endless! A lot more tweaks than I imagined.

6) Very responsive and the scrolling through screens and apps is lightening fast compared to my HOX. It always felt like there was a drag with the HOX scrolling...

7) Notification light is MUCH brighter

The Not so good:

1) I miss the HOX screen in daylight already... The S3 screen is nice don't get me wrong but HTC did an AMAZING job on that screen.

2) The overall software feel is still cartoony to me. The little things like notification icons, quick buttons, setting screens, and so on. They are really easy to read but seem.... well not refined.

3) Overall aesthetic look is nowhere near the HOX although it looks a lot better in person than in pictures. I can hold its own but not next to the HOX imho.

4) As mentioned the camera seems to be a bit fuzzy (Although it may be because the screen isn't as nice) and the software is nowhere near as polished.

Overall I feel I made the right decision for my needs and the way I use a device but I think a marriage of the 2 devices would be the ultimate experience. When I pick the S3 up it feels solid but very light weight. On the other hand my HOX was making that creaking noise and it was starting to worry me. I honestly feel like I can man handle the S3 where I was babying the HOX. Time will tell but so far Im very happy with the S3 and don't feel myself saying "Man I miss ________ "

Checking back in after a full week and some change. I've got to be honest, I dont miss the One X other than the camera software and faster focus. I got used to the screen real quick and found a few things I actually liked better about it... The biggest being blacks are a lot deeper.

My biggest problem(s) seemed to be solved. I dont have to reset my BT connection EVERY time I get into the car, msg alerts don't blow my AmazonMP3 app out of the water, and I get a lot less lag on the launcher. I haven't even felt the need to go to Nova yet.

I still see the HOX as being a wonderful phone but the S3 just fits my user style better.

I guess it depends on the person but none of those features would interest me at all. They are cool little features no doubt but IMO it doesn't make the phone superior.

Those aren't the only feature advantages tho. While I would agree to some extent those are more "icing on the cake" features rather than "deal breaker" features, they are useful. For me the "deal breaker" is unreplaceable battery, lack of external SD, and the funky protruding camera lens.

The up side is I like the sense UI, and its $100 less expensive, which is almost enough to steer me towards the HOX... At the same price the decision is easy, however the HOX is an incredible value @ $99.99, making it hard to decide for me which to keep..

So I took the jump and sold my HTC One X and got a Samsung GIII off Ebay. I have been trying to set it up and am finding I have to do a lot of modifications to get the same things that I like about Sense so I to me it is not worth it and will probably head back to a One X. Hopefully the one I get doesn't have the same signal issues.

I think you have a bad case of 'grass is always greener...'
You also run the risk coming back to a one x, and missing things from the s3!

Good luck.
Yes I had a case of the grass is greener. LOL There are only a couple of things I will miss like the brighter led and the ripple effect when you unlock it. With that said the One X is for me.

I was able to unload my SIII in a couple of hours on ebay so as soon as my money goes into my bank account I will order another One X from At&t. I just really like HTC Sense maybe that is dumb to some of you but the add ons that I had to do on the SIII to make it similar were not the same.

This is what is killer about Android and different manufactures in the game... Its not a one size fits all in camp android! Sorry you had to go through that but I'm glad you found what you liked and didn't get stuck with something. ;)

What is going to be so good about jb?

Project butter - OS enhancements such as buffer tweaks, increased frame rates, a system which keeps rendering and touch input events in sync better, and touch prediction come together to make everything run just a little bit better.

Other features receiving addition/enhancements are notifications, offline speech to txt, notifications, google now, and voice search:

Google Voice Search vs. Siri (Android 4.1 Jelly Bean) - YouTube

I was on the fence between both the One X and the GS3, and ended up going with the GS3. While using both of them for over an hour I just felt there was alot less lag on the GS3. And if the GS3 is this fast with ICS, just imagine how it will feel with JB when it gets pushed out.

I can't knock the One X for too many things though, the build quality basically stomps all over the GS3, the screen in day light is just lite years better, and the camera may be a tad better then the GS3.

But sense feels very heavy to me as an overlay, and just feels outdated IMO. And what's up with the multi tasking feature that basically missing on the US version, that's crazy that its not fixed yet. To me that was enough to just roll with Samsung right now.

Different strokes for different folks.

I've always been a fan of Sense and agreed it got well too bloated on Sense 3.0 and 3.5 but personally I think Sense 4.0 is quite light.

I also hated the lag but with Sense 4.1 it's been fixed now, smooth as butter.
