Root finally going to root stock bionic, need help and suggestions please

You could always go back to .902 if it was better. 902 had it's issues. But it wasn't a deal breaker till recently. If you were fine on 902, fxz back to it, root it, disable system files for upgrading and hang in there. I just recently updated to 905 and everything is great! Maybe your area still requires 902 for some reason as my area did when the 905 update rolled out. 902 had a few data drops, it wasn't an issue till here lately. I took a chance and again tried the 905 update and my bionic is solid. Hope this helps. :)

There is a Motofail made for ICS, I used it. Downloaded it from a link over at XDA.

I still prefer RAZR's Edge, as it performs the same steps that
I did when i manually rooted my BIONIC.

I just installed ICS and rooted it. I used to think my phone couldn't get much better, now I know I was wrong. This is incredible.

Exactly what i keep telling everyone, even if you do NOT root, it rocks.

Hey, root noob here running .905. I am under the impression that if I just root on my current version, I will not loose any apps or anything else. Is this correct?

If I upgrade to ICS will I loose everything? To upgrade to ICS the way you are talking about, does it require flashing?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Rooting is like getting administration permission in windows it doesn't effect any of your apps or data. It does give you the ability to modify your your phone, freeze bloat and pretty much screw it up. You can root any update and not loose your data.

You can also take any of the leaks and you won't loose your data. It is when you go back to GB to receive the ota you could loose your data. There are ways to avoid it thou.

So what is the difference between loading CM (or any other rom) and stock version of ICS? I thought I would have to flash a rom in order to run ICS on my bionic. Is this not true?

On the bionic when you loadd any custom rom the ota system version has to match the custom rom base. It will be writen in the op which ota you need to be on in order to flash it. Such as if you want to be on eclipse 3.0 you need to be on 5.9.905. If you want ICS all you have to do is be on stock 5.9.905 and flash a leak. I would suggest 6.7.232 because if anything goes wrong you can recover from it.
