while lots of people are hung up on 4g and multicore fanciness, i'm hung up on a solid build. i have a prevail right now which is armored to the teeth to protect it. i am stoked for a 1ghz phone that is waterproof! especially for the $130 price point!! :D

I am so excitied for this phone......

I left boost for tmobile 4g but I can't even get 4g in my apt or even a decent signal so I am coming back to boost and was going to get the evo but when I saw this phone and realized I don't really need 4g but I do want ICS in a small to medium sized package and i can drop it in the water too, I'm sold!!!!.

i picked up the hydro a few days ago. battery is like any other phone, depends on the amount of usage. talk time kills alot of the battery, but for standard use i've had not issues when battery time. all around its a good phone, ics os, arm 7 processor, good screen size. havent been willing to try waterproof, taking their word for it. one major downside i've come across is their is no ability to wifi tether even with playstore apps, the phone will report it doesnt have the ability to do it, whether it can with a custom rom or not, we have to wait to find out. is the phone worth the price, most defintely. my opinion being its worthy of 180- 200 dollars, but being able to get it for 130 its well worth the price.

Hey Stinger!

~So how's the reception with this phone?

~What phones have you had? What can you compare this phone too?

~Would you take it over an XPRT, Warp, Ultra?

~Is there a bar code reader that will work with it since the camera doesn't have an auto-focus?

~Does it lag much?

~Has it frozen on you or just crapped out on you yet?

Inquiring minds want to know. ;)

Hi all,

I've been really torn over this phone. I love my prevail (get 14 days between charges) but that b/c its rooted and very bare bones as a smart phone.

This phone I've read amazing reviews, and then people condemning it do to its battery life. So I was hoping anyone that has one and has stumbled across this thread could let the rest of us know how long does it last for you. Even a battery use info and the time it lasted would be amazing.

The only reason I ask is, the phone is very close to stock ics, it has all the little + that I've wanted but he prevail just been missing. But I continue to read conflicting information on the phone.

For example :Kyocera Hydro ? Android Device Gallery
State the phone has 8 hours talk and 450 hours standby...well dam that would be great!

But if you look at boosts page and information it says nothing about standby and only 3 hours talk. That in itself is a significant difference.

So please anyone who can shed light on the phone's actual battery burning would be most appreciated.

My prevail runs great and the extra 5 dollars a month b/c I'll lose my grandfathering is worth it but only if it can make it through at least a 12 hour day before needing a charge :/

Thanks for your time and any information

Well I went out and got one so I guess I'd update my post.

I was running a prevail and it honestly it just a newer faster version of it but without having to root and tweak everything to hell.

The bars seems a bit better then my old phone even though both ran PRL 6109

It doesn't lag or freeze up at all which is a relief.

I tried running it with just the 3G and Cellular on since that is what I primarily use. Its been going for a little less then a percent an hour.

So its about 3 to 4 days standby which is fine for me. It is true as you begin to use it the battery starts chipping away but its nothing surprising. I'd say the prevail went down at the same rate.

Overall, I'm happy with the upgrade. The phone performs smooth and well. It does exactly what I need.

Maybe someday we'll get root. The only negative I have for it is out of the box it is stock ICS. Then boost pushes 2 update to it 1 to install "boost crap" like boost zone etc, and another for some software called "mobile ID" which to me is just more boost crap and sadly even in ICS neither can be uninstalled or "disabled" naturally.

Tried one scanner app without success. As far as signal, hard to judge based on tower upgrades in my area taking over 5 months. Ive Owned the prevail, had access to motorola photon and Astixs. Only true difference is screen size and internal memory size. Which phone would i choose, ill stick with my hydro. Ics is still being upgragded in some apps so expect some previous apps not to work. Overall i love my phone. I considered the 4g evo, and glad i didnt waste my money. Planning on picking up another hydro soon for gf. Ive only exprienced lag in heavy flash browser games. In general use no nit one ounce of lag. I looked at the warp but for price
Equipment specs the hydro beats it. Arm 7, 1ghz processor decent storage over prevail. Downside no rooting
and no wifi tethering. But works well as usb connection. Battery time, no clue i plug mine in every night . Hope this helps

I think the specs are worth the extra few dollars on the warp.2G of more internal memory and the screen is alot bigger.Same processor and other internal parts.Better screen resolution on the warp as well. 2.3.5 ginger bread vs.4.0 ics is to close to call. There is nothing really better about the hydro besides it's water proof and is running newer android.I can root my warp if I want a newer android format?I have my eyes on the hydro for hunting season/back up phone?I love the fact it can get wet.Im glad to hear the good reviews on the hydro.Waiting for price to come down a little more.Im sure it will??

mobi tag scanner works just fine, camera does in fact have auto-focus (dunno where you all are getting that it doesnt?)
since we now have root and the bloatware is removed this phone is shaping up to be quite a powerful device. slap an invisishield screen protector and a rubberized case on it and you have waterproof, shockproof, and scratchproof. great device well worth the price.
oh btw, i removed eco mode and replaced it with "easy battery saver" and the batt lasts almost twice as long ;)

i'm new here but i'll put my 2 cents in anyway, i got the hydro about 3 weeks ago and it's running just as it comes, nothing removed or added and i don't talk much on it and i get up to 36 hours from full charge to 40% to 20% depending on my talk time,as far as a qr scanner i tried QR barcode scanner v1.4.2 and it works great. no prob as lond as qr code is bout 1 inch square
