I was trying some things earlier and uninstalled a couple of apps. I then reinstalled them from the market and they then updated. Not sure why.
Anyway, I did as you said and pulled the battery. no change.
As to a ROM, what would you suggest?
Do I have to manually do a NAND restore?
Sorry, still learning this stuff.
Sorry it took so long to get back. Been fumbling with a phone myself trying to get it working properly. Sometimes they just don't want to play nice
If you haven't gotten past this point yet, Do a NAND backup from your recovery. AFTER you have done a NAND you can flash a custom rom. If you have Google backing up your app data you can have it all install once the phone is setup with your google account again (it's like a fresh start with your phone when you install a new ROM) Otherwise you can install MyBackup or Titanium Backup before flashing and make backups of all your apps which you
can then restore very quickly on your new ROM.
I personally don't use either of these much anymore because I have found fresh installs from the market to be more trouble-free. It is worth the extra time to me, and there are ways to make it a little faster. I flash my new rom, and set it up with my google account. Let it sit and settle for a couple minutes then reboot. I then go to my laptop and sign in to the Play Store and look through "My Apps" and manually install them through there. Goes pretty quick.
As far as ROMs go I suggest trying v1.4 or 1.5 of
this one (let me know if you can't get them from the thread and I'll send you links to copies of whatever I have).
Or if you just want stock-like with some tweaking
this one is awesome and very very stable too.
Feeling adventurous? Try some
ICS or
JB. Not fully functional, but for many they work as daily drivers (or DD).
