I will now be going on my 5th droid... faulty touchscreen buttons... home, back, menu, and search buttons do not register after multiple pushes...

VZW offered me to switch phones just notice Devour on their website... debating i should make the switch, goto another problem phone (BB tour with trackball issue) and when newer droid phones come out call complain and see if theyll let me switch back yet again.. hopeful thinking but i do have the option now to change from the droid.. any input?

Wow, that really sucks :(, luckily i haven't had one problem with my Droid. If I were you I would give the droid one more shot, and if it does not work out again, wait on the Nexus One or HTC incredible.

If your on ur 5th its most likely you.

I used to say that, but im getting my 4th tomorrow. once you get your first refurb, it just gets worse and worse. I really dont think they fix the problems with them

my first one was lost to a broken cell antenna
second to a broken proximity sensor
third, pretty much DOA, ram is faulty or something. versions not sure whats the issue but it has a few screws loose

I know third times supposed to be a charm, but maybe with cell phones its the fourth time?

If I wasn't on my 4th refurb I'd say user error too. I don't think Moto's refurb company has any quality control. There appears to be NO testing whatsoever...and they just clean and send out returns without any idea why they are returned.

I would call Verizon and DEMAND they give you a new one out of the box and NOT another refurb. 5 bad phones is ridiculous.

unless i have hulk fingers and i just break it pushing?

HULK SMASH!!

But seriously, I am sorry to hear about all your troubles you have been having. If I were in your shoes, I would probably jump ship. That would be too much hassle, and I think I would have given up after the 4th one.

Still, the Droid is the best phone I have ever owned, so if you are willing to stick it out until you get a proper one I think you will enjoy it.

Still, with your track record with Motorola, I would hang on until another manufacturer on the Android platform comes available, especially if Verizon is willing to switch it for you.

Best of luck...

I'm not convinced their new-out-of-box units are any better. I had a number of issues with my first new Droid and my wife's lasted a day before it started just randomly shutting down.

I think Motorola has some serious quality control issues for both new and refurb units.

well i totally agree the phone is one of the best phones ive owned since the htc mogul on sprint came out and i loved that phone! Im really debating maybe i will give a refurb a go if that doesnt work ill demand a brand spanking new one.... seemed to work out better last phone i got a refurb called and complained about the slider an they sent me a brand new one...

That indeed sucks. After 3 Blackberry 8530's (not one of them my fault for their issues), they let me choose any other phone for free. I chose a Droid. They sent me a "refurbished" one, but I haven't had an issues with it (*knocks on wood*). My only complaint is that it slides open in my pocket.

I say try a Droid one last time. It's SO much better than the Blackberry. I can't even tell you...it's like night and day, plus some. Good luck!

don't go devour unless you FB and twitter an so on. wife has one and its nice. wish the droid had its case. but if on fifth one think you can get them to send a bran new one. tell them if they want to keep you as a customer they should do this. companies hate to lose business
