Hello Everyone! :)

Firstly of all, congrats for your excelent forum!

So, I would like to count with your help, please. I'm a iOS user, but like a lot of news and am also a fanatic for technology. Also, I always had curiosity about Android devices, so, I purchased a Google Nexus 7.

I confess (please, don't leave me bad) that I'm a little regretful of the purchase, and thinking in to deliver back the tablet, after all, I have an iPad 3. But, my curiosity and my will of to know an Android device is strong. I don't know if I'm right or not, but...hehehe

So, I started to work on Nexus 7 and loved it. It's strange, as I'm a iOS user for sometime, but it's very, very good. I would like to know if could you help me in somethings, please:

1) What are the first steps, let's say? After receive the device, I mean? What do I have to do, what essential apps to install, what essential configurations to do, etc?

2) I remember Google promised US$ 25,00 credit on Google Play, but I don't received it. I have already purchased a game there, and, even so, I don't receive the credit. How can I redeem it, please?

3) So, this is not a technical question, in the reality. I would like to know your opinions about having 2 tablets (iPad 3 and Nexus 7). Someone of you has both tablets? Made I a good business to purchasing this device when I already had a new iPad? What could I do on Nexus 7 that I can't on iPad, for example? What are your thoughts about it, please?

Thanks in advance for any help and comment! :)

op might call Googles Customers Service and ask them what happened =). I am sure they would be able to get you fixed right up as far as the credit goes.

OP I have two tablets also a Kindle Fire and a Galaxy Tab 2. I use the Fire to play on amazon while using the Tab for internet browsing and video watching. I also use both (which ever is closer) for remote desktop on the computers in my house when I am to lazy to get up. Having two different types of tablets which you do is wonderful thing gives you more options. Plus having new tech toys to play with is always fun.

Do you know how can I contact the Google's customers service? :)

So, regarding having 2 tablets, I confess that I'm a tech fanatic. This was the reason of the purchase of Nexus 7. But, I really expect to find a utility for it, beyond to discover a new mobile OS.

You mentioned remote desktop using your Android tablets. What app do you use for this?

just in case the above does not link correctly

As far as software I got lazy and payed for Splashtop I really love it thought software is awesome.

Best Remote Desktop App | Access Computer from iPad | Splashtop

I am sure I could have gotten something off play store for free but really didn't want the hassle of having to set it up. The really cool thing is splashtop allows you to log in remotely if you set it up with your gmail account. I hadn't got to use the remote feature yet :(

You also need to add a credit/debit card to your account in order to get the $25 credit. And welcome to Android the platform and Android Forums. If you need any help finding your way around, let us know.

Thanks for the welcome. :) So, I have already added a credit card to my account. I have already purchased some games. But, even so, the credit was not applied to my account.

And, again, thanks. It's my first time with an Android device, and I'm starting to love it.

Thank you very much for the link to Google Play help! :)

Thanks, also, for the app recomendation. I'll take a look on all of them.

So, I'm really amazed by Android and Nexus 7. Let's see how all of that works.

I use 2X Client on both my iPad and N7 both free and VPN into a Windows sbs2011 server and it works great. I don't remember entering my credit card when I signed in with my existing Google account and I have the $25.00 credit.
I think a nice thing about the N7 is it's smaller and more portable and it is fast! Plus after my iPad lost data I had entered several times, I don't trust it for anything critical!

Oh crud, as others have suggested I would contact Google then. You should have the credit then.

Hi friends!

So, really, the credit was not applied to my account. I have contacted Google's technical support, and they are already helping me. Hope I get to solve this. :)

So, regarding Nexus 7, it's really a good tablet. As JanComputerman, I also have an iPad (3) and, now, the Nexus 7. I thought a lot before to purchase it, and even now, I'm a little regretful.

I am thinking in not deliver back the tablet, really. But, the regret always still with me. It's a shame.

It's a good tablet. Maybe the unique point which are making me feeling so sad is the fact of to have 2 tablets, and don't see any apparent reason for that.

P.S.: someone knows how many time do I have to let Nexus 7 charging? It's quick start guide does not mention that.

EWSG ... You can keep two tablets! It's OK.... I have FOUR!!! Sometimes the big heavy iPad is too much to carry, then you use the N7!
I know one thing ... many websites work correctly with the N7 but not with the iPad.

Hi JanComputerman! :)

Do you have four tablets?!? What are your tablets? I'm very curious, now. Are all of them Android?

Really. I'm almost disconsidering the idea of to deliver back the Nexus 7. I also asked about the "problem" of have two tablets because I don't carry them with me when outside my house. I just use iPhone, on this cases.

But, N7 is really amazing. So, I'm curious: do you know some website which works on N7 and not on iPad? I would like to try!

Also, I tried to install Flash Player on Nexus 7, but on Google Play I received a message that there is not a FP version for it. Do you know something about?

Well, the Nexus 7 combines the best of both Google and ASUS design, with the most advanced software from Google paired with cutting edge ASUS hardware. You'll find more interesting and amazing stuffz of it, and will enjoy it!
BTW, got the Google Nexus 7 and want to get some nice apps to download to turn the Nexus 7 into an even greater tablet? This list of "Must Have Android Apps for Google Nexus 7" is really the best I came across on this deserving topic.

Hello Janet55 and danaj,

Many thanks. :)

Also, the list with must have apps is great. Nexus 7 is also a great device. I'm using daily, together with the new iPad, and am enjoying it a lot.

Wonderful hardware. A lot of great games can be played on it, and I just discovered Dark Meadow (game) and NVISION (app). Recommend both strongly!

What you definitely should consider is spending under 10 dollars on a TPU case on ebay, that way your N7 trumps your ipad greatly in terms of mobility. I now feel safe sliding it in my pocket and taking it along any time. Further more it acts as a stand for the tablet and has magnetic lock/unlock. Portability is what this tablet was really made for, so you might find a good use for it there. Really, that's one purchase I guarantee you won't regret =)

Here's the one I got
