Are there only two people on this whole site who recommend this phone??

I hate to start a whole new thread on this, but I'm really curious if there aren't more people who like this phone enough to recommend it. My original post was the "should I get this thing or what?" one.

Well I am just thinking as i type its not about other its about what you like and what you feel and happy with.

personally i love this new HTC HERO phone with the Android OS .

I'm new to HTC as perviously own Nokia, Samsung and most popular iPhone 2G, 3G & the 3GS and since i was so much bored with iPhone due to the fact only bunch of icons on home screen , u cannot do multi tasking ie on HTC HERO if u want to listen radio and do anything else or even screen goes off while u listening radio as ur wifi connection stays ON even ur screen goes to sleep or stand by everything is up and running.

if u download new app leave downloading behind the screen and installing it behind the screen u carry on what ever u doing...does not stop u taking or answering calls or checking mail or anything else u wanna do with HTC HERO.

.. where as iPHONE have so many restrictions that the main reason i decided to go with HTC HERO as its got most advanced OS running and FAR FAR FAR better then the iPhone OS and if i paid for something i wanted to do what ever i feel like where with iphone apple is ur boss or o2 lol.

Browser on HTC HERO: FULL screen and flash support and u have also choice of having many different browser.

iPhone just safari and some of the pages does not support safari or safari does not support new website which is built in flash.

the reason for me to pick HTC HERO as its smaller then the iPhone and its looks nice as well as the weight and look like mobile phone and HTC hero does not feel like u are just carrying a big brick .. NO.. its really nice handset and i am very happy with my purchase.. of course its just released and there are few lags and software firmware issues.. and that should be fix in couple of weeks times so not a major problem.

i remember when iPhone released apple have to update their firmware so many times just to keep customers happy as there was also issues with the signal issue with iPhone on 3G and iPhone does also crash, safari crashes while u surfing high images website..

Only IPod run at the background and nothing else on that phone apart from bunch of icons home screen.. no widgets etc.

anyway come back to the real question :) sorry i just thought let me give you bit my experience HTC hero vs iphone.

Yes i Would recommend anyone buying this handset and believe me or not @ my work 2 people already decided to ordered htc hero after playing with my handset and there handset on its way..
when i ask why they going with HTC hero not iPhone

replied iPhone is big and where HTC HERO screen size is 3.2 vs iphone 3.5 but outer size of the iPhone size is very bigs vs HTC HERO..

plus loads of other stuff on Android where Apple will never bring into the iPhone just the fact they want to keep the Phone simple as possible and one day u just get bored with playing games and apple app store utilities are use less coz they dont do anything to the handset or tweak anything to iPhone so why even installing tools apps on iPhone where HTC hero tools apps does something when u want to do or change something overclock the processor or what ever u want to add.

one of the great feature i love on HTC HERO is you can turn off wifi or gps from ur home screen using widgets where on iPhone if u want to turn on WIFI u have to close ur open application to turn on\off wifi or any of the iPhone settings..

iPhone is not bad handset but ask your self a question do you wanna pay for something where u can take as much as advantage from ur purchase rather then just icons on home screen?
HTC HERO all the way yes.

oh yeah battery life.

HTC HERO battery life is also same as iPhone battery life with my experience and usage.

i use Phone like everyday make calls all the time using internet, emails .

i dont find battery life problem with htc hero..

i remember i was running less items on iphone at background actually hang on lol... nothing can run or leave running at background on iphone and i still had to recharge my iphone every night....

and depends how u much u use ur phone.

Make that three. I got my white hero (from mobilephonesdirect.co.uk) and have been astounded by how good it is. I have been changing phones nearly every year and getting a top end one each time. This time I was originally looking to get the iPhone 3GS, which my brother has, but I don't like the way it looks.
Also, I desperately looked for a white Hero and it took me a few days to, since I emailed some websites which displayed the phone as white, to confirm the colour. Every website but that told me that theirs wasn't white as the picture suggested.

Anyway, the phone is great, really accurate for things you don't expect it to be. For example, on of the most popular apps, Google Speak, is very good at searching correctly for what you say into the phone.

The screen is ultra responsive.
When you log into facebook for the first time, you can make the phone sync with it, and all the contacts on your sim card that it matches to your facebook friends are linked, and so their phone numbers have pictures attached to them.

Two minor bones to pick: it takes quite a while to load up. Not a problem if you are just waking up and just turned the phone on whilst you get ready, but it would be annoying if you were desperate to make an emergency call. It takes a minute, maybe more than 60 seconds.
Secondly, like the thread I started (which nobody has answered yet), in the photo album with your camera shots and pictures downloaded from your PC, the phone doesn't recognise folders that you made on the PC. Maybe I don't know how to set it up, but at the moment that's my only con to say for this phone.

This phone will be your hero!

ok i have had this phone for a month and it has a few issues.using network sharing on vista 64 it wont always connect world icon does not show gotta restart the phone and sometimes gotta enable disable several times very annoying when trying to connect to net when using as modem:mad:.also internet connectivty just stop when using phone on its own with its built in browser no up or down on arrows gotta disconnect reconnect BORING:mad:.video camera is jerky and plain crap.charging takes ages.when in a call if battery is low voice gets like a bad signal all cutting out and crap.when in call if screen goes off its very easy to press the wrong button ending the call!:mad:these may seem like silly gripes but on open source code software using linux its just not on.we are all looking for a alternative to symbian and windows mobile and they have had plenty of time to get it right, rom updates to reduce lag and missing sms issues etc it just smacks to me of a rushed release like what microsoft are known for where its gonna need regular updates to fix issues that should not be there.and if your on orange or tmobile it will be worse.im not convinced about the software side of htc when looking at the support section seems to me they have had to release a lot of fixes for a lot of phone something that nokia and other makers although there phones are boring are not having to do so much.dont get me wrong the idea is exciting but i think we are craving a new alternative to whats on offer that we are going for anything when being honest phone makers could do a lot better.the hero is tragically flawed as was stated on a different forum and i have to agree im afraid, its ram is awful and just not enough for the job,the processor is old and out of date even the tg01 has a 1ghz chip yea it may be a crap os but it has got one,why cut corners i mean 4 or 500 quid for a phone you can get a laptop for that with a sim slot!!! my opinion is you will love it a first then it will annoy you and in 6 months when they bring the next gen out we will all be gutted we bought such a lousy slow held back bag of crap!! my advice is wait dont get one or orange or tmobile till they stop putting their own crap on phones and give control back to the owner.marks out of ten,

I think what he wants IS a laptop. Its a great phone and if you buy one now expect the next gen to be faster with more features on it. Then again that goes for anything you have on the market today. The lag really wasnt that bad. The new software had fixed it, and everything else southwest jay quote i consider to be advanced features. For most people this phone is ground breaking.
Can i remind everyone here that we didnt have mobile phones 20 years ago and 8 years ago they released the first Ipod.
Bask in evolution but rome wasn't built in a day.

i have 2 laptops and a quad core hp desktop, what i want is my moneys worth and if you dont want advanced features why get a advanced phone? you may say its ground breaking its not, its just a linux os on the same hardware as the g1. the chinese have been making cloned iphones for 2 years with dual sim and touchflo check out ebay, and check the hardware specks of the hero, you say the lag wasnt that bad but should a groundbreaking phone have any lag? probably find all the update does is shift the swap file to the memory card and shut a few useless apps that dont need to be running coz the cpu is so slow, but if your happy then thats good but a honest review with hardware knowledge should be honest when people are spending good money and may be tied to a 12 or 18 month contract just to find out that 4 months down the line they were just testers, companies are into making a quick buck at consumers expense and for a new model phone to need sorting already with a new rom proves the point, it was rushed.

Do any of them have keyboards with working SHIFT and PERIOD keys? ;)

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight......... like the review that (in)famously accused the Hero of being "tragically flawed", you mean? If the hardware is so feeble then why, pray tell, does the UI update so radically transform the performance? Sure seems to point at it being down to better-optimised software, no?

for a new model phone to need sorting already with a new rom proves the point, it was rushed.
When did any new smartphone arrive to market without flaws? Ask around about the Nokia N97 when it first shipped, for example. I got an N95 four months after that was released and it was nothing like the gem it became with a couple of software revisions. If you want hassle-free ownership then don't buy into the bleeding-edge.
