IMO, the TF300 is best tablet, overall. The N7's lack of sd slot and having to root, etc for full host support is IMO Cartman level lame.

That said, if you can live with 13 GB of space for apps and storage (ie, you are not a gamer or video fan), the N7 is a good device. Only 5 GB with the other model, so seems best to avoid. I hate clouds unless for rain or shade.

Once you get over the 1ghz range in mobile processors, you're fine for 90% of the stuff you will ever do on the device. In the US we get mostly dual core processors (for some insane reason) so I'm used to it. Only time you need more processing power is if you are into one of the more intense real time gaming apps (FPS mostly).

The issue for me becomes storage capacity. I just can't see buying a device with less than 16GB internal storage. My first Android device was that cheapie LG Optimus with so little internal memory I was forever deleting apps or moving to SD card. Total PITA. The 8GB size is why I didn't go for a Kindle Fire last year.

I thought the N7 might be a storage issue, but the truth is I mostly stream media to the device. All my music is on Google Music and Amazon MP3, and I also have Spotify and Pandora. I have Netflix and Amazon Prime for video. I'm also a Dr Who fan (which in the US means you are well versed on the subject of BT and have accrued a media library). I run a 3TB video library off an external HDD running Plex Media Server on my quad core laptop. I have the luxury of having access to my media library at home and when I travel just by taking my setup along. (I frequently travel for weeks at a time and have a router, laptop and external HDD in my kit bag. I'm also a firm believer in redundant backups so use a system of external HDDs and Cloud sync tools.)

Between all that, I just don't need to store my digital content on my device. When I do it is for those short periods of time like on a plane or train then time constricts what I can and can't watch, read, or listen to. Usually I have my phone, 7" tablet and/or 10" tablet in a bag loaded with different material to fit my mood.

N7 does have the prettiest screen of all the 7" tabs out there just as the Transformer takes the tops in 10" tabs. Only feature I do miss is that rear-facing camera. Tech reviewers keep talking about it as if people need it just for taking photos. For me, it makes an easy way to show people what I'm looking at in a video call. I just flip to rear-facing camera and point while still being able to see them on my screen. It was very handy when I was working on a remodel job and had to show my dad the progress. (But since I started out with an iPad1 which had NO camera, the N7 is still a better starter device in the tablet arena.)

One device I find I absolutely NEED that microSD slot for is a phone with a decent camera (like the S3). I'm a shutterbug so I want that extra storage capacity for when I'm indulging my hobby. That's why my S3 is the 32GB model with another 32GB microSD installed. (Again, all my photos are auto backed up to the cloud just in case I hose my phone. Yes, I've done that... in the middle of Disney World.)

Having said all that, there's a major difference coming from the iOS world to Android. If I wanted to put ANYTHING on my iPad/iPod Touch, I HAD to hook it up to my laptop and sync with iTunes. Then it would want to resync the ENTIRE freaking library of apps, music, books, etc. if all I wanted was to just put one lousy movie on it. (Wish I had a $1 for every hour iTunes sucked out of my life.) With Android, I just plug in USB and drag/drop files. Hell, I can WiFi drag/drop on Android. It's having the file system access that makes a HUGE difference.

I'm rally not understanding what all the hype is about the N7, maybe it's just me. If I am going to get a tab soon, then I won't be replacing it for ideally a few years.
Most tablets around are dual core 1ghz to 1.2 if you're lucky, to me that's just bottom end. Having an S3, I'd expect a tablet to have a lot more guts. The only real contenders for me are the Asus Transformer Pad TF300T, or the Infinity. The TF300T I can get for

That's a good chuckle to start your morning. Ah the sweet life of smartphones. Why did we think we would ever use these things as phones?

Takes me back to my Windows PDA days when I mocked my brother for having one of the first smartphones. He never received phone calls because his battery was always low doing the computer stuff. Meanwhile my flip phone lasted for days on one charge and my PDA was for computer use.

I'm not too worried about cloud (don't sign up to one as it is, yet) or storage, as I have a 4TB nas with all my junk on, and once that's full ill just get another. The other plan is to get sorted a car pc, but that can wait, would be nice to have that on 3G tho.

What are the fastest speeds you get in your country (UK right?). You guys have no LTE so only 3G, correct?

In the US, you tend to chose between crappy data speeds and oppressive data caps. (I am so looking forward to Sprint activating their LTE network.)

Jeepers. I live in Richmond (15 miles south of Lexington) Kentucky and expected 4G to be here in about a year, but was in the house and noticed full bar 4G. I kind of did a double take and then tested with Speednet. 12mb download and 12mb upload speed on average. 4G was all around south Richmond as well and did not lose 4G where tested.

While testing, I could not help but notice how with medium or higher use, battery life is great with a good signal, but bad with a weak signal. I think this is the key why we see so much variance with battery life with users. I notice it profoundly myself. The main variable for weight is the quality of signal. Good signal 3G/4G and wifi are great, but the opposite with weak 3G/4G.

Also, wild how the Razr runs hot with 4G and has AWFUL battery life regardless of signal, unless using 3G, but the GS3 does not get hot and has amazing battery life in 4G. Much better even than the Razr with 3G.

Again, this assumes you have a good signal, else the GS3 can run very warm to hot and starts sucking the battery down (with medium to heavy use). 3G and 4G.

On another note... I organized all my S3 photos last night. Kept me up most of the night , but at least it is finished !

Now I just need to organize my computers pics. I have so many duplicates its crazy !

Does anyone know how to hide folders (pics ) on the S3 without having to download a 3rd party app? Seems to me there should be a simple way ?

Yeah bud I'm in the UK, here he have HSPA+ and that's fast enough for me when I'm mobile. For anyone wondering the differences between HSPA+ & LTE, check out this page : HSPA+ vs LTE: The Future is now

At home tho, I have 100mb cable, and that will speed test to 96mb down, and I can get constant download speeds of 11-12MB/s
