Help Samsung i7500 Bell Firmware Update?

Bell never released any updates for the phone. If you want an official firmware you're stuck with what was on the phone when you got it (1.5 can't remember the version). However, I'd give Galaxo a shot. Like weasel says, best thing to happen to the Galaxy.

So obviously Galaxo works for any Samsung Galaxy for any carrier, but are their any bugs or risks taken if installed on your phone? Is it possible to put the old firmware back on if you decide to get a different phone at the end of your contract?. It looks cool and geeky for sure, especially with the capability to change the theme on the GUI, so with those questions asked I'll consider looking into it... thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Yes, 1.5 is still available to put back on if required. There are some bugs, but there are also solutions. Some people have had issues with the camera. I have not had any problem at all. Look into the threads an decide. Once you do it, you'll find its not as hard as its described. 2.2 ( froyo ) is just about ready. Some are using it now, I am holding off until the camera is working.

I am sooo hoping that this thread isn't dead yet. I made the mistake of trying to upgrade from 1.5 to 1.6 without reading all the instructions first. I flashed it with odin and 1.6 (russian one) and didn't read the part where it said not to do the phone section . So now my bell phone will not recognize any sim cards. I have searched high and low for the original firmware but every torrent I find has no seeds. I'm begging someone to pleaseeeee post a working link for the 1.5 original bell canada firmware.

If the links around here aren't working, I can't really help you... You're out of luck since MegaUpload was brought down a couple days ago.

I had the original Bell firmware on my PC, but I lost everything about a month ago. I'll check more thoroughly tomorrow, but don't get your hopes up.

The link for JC6 with the integrated recovery was still working, so you'd be able to get the recovery. I wonder if a Nandroid backup contains the whole firmware, in that case I might be able to send you a Nandroid backup from my I7500L that has working cell radio. My Galaxy is 2 hours away from where I am, so it might take a while though.

Try finding BMIK6 or BMIK7 (there's only BMIK6, but sometimes it was labelled as BMIK7, no idea why).

Hey guys, I just flashed my i7500l with 1.6 and made the same mistake. I'm on bell mobility (canada) as well. Did anyone come up with a conclusion. What can I do to get this phone working again? When I start the phone up it asks to unlock or dismiss. When I dismiss it loads up but no network or sim card.

Thanks for helping.
