***Official HTC Incredible Thread***

Hi everyone,

I have a somewhat silly (maybe stupid) question...

With all the info coming and going so fast on this forum, I am not sure if anyone ever asked this before:

Is it at all possible that we might see some kind of announcement on the 3rd of april?

Reason I bring up this date is that is the day Apple releases the iPad, and maybe Verizon will try and take some of that thunder. Now I know the phone is not the same as the iPad, but lets face it, android can do just about the same as the iPad (maybe even a little more than the stock iPad). And, in light of the possible lawsuit against HTC, maybe this announcement is a finger in your face from HTC to Apple?

Ok, maybe a stupid question, but in the tech world..anything is possible.

Yes the Incredible would be the best phone in June, if none of the other carriers introduced something new. Unlike Verizon, they seem to introduce new phones without an agonizing wait. I wouldn't just assume that the we won't see something from the other carriers before we see Verizon put out the Incredible.
Umm lol im gonna have to disagree with you.

Apparantly, the Evo is rumored to come in like May, June. Making it win over the Incredible.

Also, the Desire is coming soon, supposedly May also and that will also win a lot of people over. Unlike the Incredible, both of these phones have been basically showed to the public and have gotten a lot of press/heads turning.

If Verizon wants to actually make some money and be like shazam and wow people, they need to get the phone out as soon as possible. Theres a lot of competition coming.

Samsung Galaxy S is going to be a crazy phone, especially that GPU it has. Better than snapdragon apparantly in gaming, wouldn't doubt it. The iPhone GPU which is the older version of the one in the Galaxy S is already better than the snapdragon in gaming terms.

Idk, if you ask me, VZW needs to release this phone in April to be in the game.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Everything with Verizon is a secret! Their business model is to sustain sales until the last minute which is why sometimes phones just show up on their website or stores with hardly a mention. When you have the nation's largest 3G network and 90+ million customers, maximizing sales and revenue from the existing customer base is more important than adding subs. Sprint's advanced EVO announcement, on the contrary, is about curbing potential losses and luring new customers. Big fish vs small fish strategy.
I really, really do hope that explains his lack of mentioning anything about any HTC android phones coming up for Verizon...

We actually agree. I also think waiting would be a huge mistake, cause I don't think T-Mobile (or other carriers for that matter) is just gonna sit on their hands (they seem to be the best at releasing the cutting edge hardware).

Do you know of any maps or lists of those areas that will be covered and when? I would love to live in one of the lucky cities but don't know where their coverage will be.

25 to 30 cities by the end of the year- I'll see if I can do some more digging, but the only one I know of for sure is Mpls. Obviously, you'd think they would wanna hit the big markets first to make the most impact..

Do a Yahoo search for "helps verizon wireless build first 4g". You'll get all these articles from different regions, all talking about how a local telecom company is partnering with VZW to bring LTE to that region- they all have almost exactly the same verbatim, so it was probably a generic press release issued by Verizon, and then forwarded to whatever new website. Check it out though, gives some of the markets that will be launching first..

I was following a HTC Superosonic thread since the begininng, not much lateley. But a credible guy on their with a friend that has a test phone said the phone would be out May to June. Most of the things he's said has been right so far. His friend was also the one that posted that lame 40 second video of the HTC Supersonic though it barely showed anything but half the front screen and the back.

I don't think that's a stupid question. I've seen much worse in this forum. Anything is possible I guess. Apple is releasing the iPad on a Saturday?

I think since the phone has already went through the FCC and is in the hands of testers or was that it would come out before the EVO which is looking like a Juneish release I still think it will come next month.
next month as in April :D

I hope so too.....im looking for a mid-april release date realistically. Of course i would want the thing out by like next week or the first week of April but that might not happen.

As long as the thing doesn't come out May or really late April.

I WANT INCREDIBLE!!!

It just struck me, it really doesn't come down to "competition" or winning over the masses by having something "first"

It doesn't matter when a new phone comes out. (most) People buy a new phone after their contract expires. There are ALWAYS thousands upon thousand of people coming off of contract. If the Incredible came out tomorrow, those out with contracts ending may get it. If it comes out in 2 months, then those with contracts ending at THAT time may get it.

Bottom line, it matters what's available when you're ready to get a new phone, not who has comes out with the new device first.

(Yes, I know there are some here that have been out of contract for some time, but nationwide, that is the exception, not the rule)

Ok I kinda went on a search splurge for the 25-30 markets that will be getting LTE late this year/early next year and here's everything that I could find for right now:

The Carolinas (Charlotte and Columbia were specifically named), Georgia (Atlanta), Tennessee, Alabama, Florida (Pensacola), Ohio, Michigan, Las Vegas, Boston, Seattle, Denver, and Minneapolis. Also, one article quoted "25 states plus the District of Columbia." Obviously they're keeping it under wraps so as to maintain a competitive advantage, which is smart business-wise, but I know it's gonna drive some people crazy not knowing... Guess we're stuck playing the waiting game for now..

Somewhat true......but have you looked at the Apple iPhone? Im pretty sure more than like 60% of those customers weren't even close to over with their contracts. A lot of them bought unlocked or just started a new contract. Pretty amazing considering how many iPhones sold and how long those freaking lines were for one.

I couldn't agree more ... Those of us that have clue as to what's COMING SOON for a Verizon are definitely a small minority and NOT their primary demographic. The VAST majority of customers get whatever is in the store when they go in to renew.
