Awe... You don't understand the beauty of Shellac. Geese..... Boys lol

That gel polish is the bomb! I just soaked my acrylic nails off a few weeks ago and am waiting for the damaged part of my nails to grow out so I can do the Gellish (like Shellac). I did it once before and loved it.

I am also multitasking. Baking a Hello Kitty cake while on the forums. Wish me luck with that. It might end up looking like Hello Scary Clown with Whiskers when I'm done. It's the thought that counts, right? :D

I love it so much I bought the system. It was about $100, But I can do it whenever I want and charge my friends to do it. That $100 investment I made last October and every 2 weeks my nails are perfect ! O Hail to Ebay !

If I can ever get my nails in shape, I will probably invest in it myself. Did you get the Shellac system? There are a few of them out there now...I think my friend has the CND one, and I know there's a Gellish, Coture Gel and even OPI has one.

The most important part is the process . The brand is irrelevant. I bought the 45W lamp (don't buy less) and the rest is the process. I can let you know the pitfalls and what to buy including the process when your ready, but the brand is just that.... Brands are all interchangeable.

Kinda like Android..... Its a system, the individual carriers try to make it their own, but it's all android.

Thanks! I figure I've got a good 8-12 weeks to get my nails in any shape to do it. I'm looking at systems online now (while the cake is cooling) and I'm leaning towards the OPI system. Different brands probably work better on different people, too. My best friend has the Shellac system in her shop, but uses the Gellish product on her own nails, because it works better for her. It didn't work as well for me.

The difference between systems is really minimal. The lamp is what makes the difference. Most people don't take the time to find that out. Almost all systems cure at 45 w , So, the point is to get 45 w. Unless your going LED the rest is mute a mute point. I bought a 45 w on ebay for $45 and it has done me very well for almost a year. Don't waste your m, money on the brand unless your going LED, which btw will save you 1O min...

I interchangable shellac with gellish and CND... It really is the process.

Amy info would be gratefully received. I've beaten up on my hands for years and I really need to give them a new look.

Mine are terrible, constantly breaking. I'm going to have to look in to this.

Best advice I got from a friend who works in a beauty salon is to spend the money to try them all in a salon and see which works best for you. I CAN'T use the OPI system - it wrecks my nails. The Gellish was only less so. The Shellac is my favorite. But like it's said above - its all the same concept, just slightly different specs.

I had the most interesting night at the nail salon tonight.....My mother and I go every Wednesday. Tonight we got there and this creepy guy was standing outside. He asked if they did massage and we told him we weren't sure if they did them for men. So we walked in and he proceeded to stay outside and occasionally look in and stare. Then he would walk away, come back, look in, have a smoke, look in....creepy. I'm not easily creeped out but he put my creep-o-meter into overdrive. The two women doing our nails weren't happy either. So the owner got up and locked the door. Then the guy left. We all breathed a sigh of relief....for about 5 minutes. Then he was back. He had left to go get a burger at BK across the street and was now eating in his car, staring at us. That was it. I called the police and explained why I was calling. The dispatcher was very nice and not patronizing. Asked about the guy and what he was driving. 10 minutes later they showed up. 20 minutes later (after a sobriety test that we watched through the window) the creepy man left in handcuffs. The officer that came in was very nice and said 'you did the right thing'. Damn, I wish I knew what creepy-man was booked on!!
