Help Help Moving installed apps from one SD card to another

Format the new card before copying the content on it.
The sd card apps are stored in the .android_secure folder, make sure to copy that onto the new card.

Just a side note: if you loose the paid apps, you will not have to pay again for them, just use the same google account as before to log in the play store and reinstall them.

Many thanks - the phone wont let me format that card, which is what I originally intended to do (that option is greyed out) but I think the card is the main problem here! It is losing data so something is not right! Teach me to buy off ebay!!

I've gone back to my original SD card for now and re-loaded the Andriod secure folder. The apps work but all my thumbnails have gone and they all have com.xxx in front of their names?

Previous to all this I transferred the apps across to the phone from the old card, then back to the new card thinking that would solve the problem. It didnt, largely due to a duff new card I think.

thanks

normally just a full sd to sd copy. but your new card does sound bust.

H2testw was not impressed with it! I'm organising a new card but meanwhile I've managed to do something not good to my old SD card in that the apps dont appear to be installed properly. Some work, but with no thumbmnail, and other dont seems to be there

I think the only course is to re-install all my apps properly on the old card (thankfully I dont have to pay again for the bought ones) then hopefully when the new SD card arrives it will justa simple case of copying over! Just spent two very frustating nights!! cheers guys

This works only for changing the sd card in a phone without loosing the apps, but you can't use this to migrate apps from one phone to another. You either download the apps again on the new phone or make backups using specific apps on the sd card and restore them on the new phone with the same app. But there are some apps have different versions for specific phone models, so those apps will have problems running on the new phone.
