internal memory is this a normal amount being used?

I'm wondering if I'm missing some internal memory. It says I have 188mb left I have like twenty apps and I caluclated it and it seems like about 30mb is missing. Or is that normal. Thanks.

Just checked mine I'm at 190MB with 39 apps. I've never really paid attention since never seemed to have any issues.

Oh wow so mine does seem to be using more especially if you have that many apps.

Mine shows 79 MB left and there have to be well over a hundred apps on my phone..

Check your system apps too. Some memory might be in use by an app's cache. Check your browser, market, and maps app.

I cleared all my market apps caches no difference. But then I cleared browers went from 187 to 198 :O. Thanks. But its still kinda off I'm bringing it to verizon tomorow. I'm an android noob right now lol.

Okay I figured out how to view all the applications on the phone including thr preloaded ones so it all makes sense now. But what does the cache do and is there a way to prevent it from using so much memory. Thanks again

I don't get why you're trying to scrounge for every MB of system memory you can. More system memory doesn't equal more performance. As long as you have over 50MB free as a buffer you should be fine, to tell the truth.

I have over 140 apps at any given time, but I have gotten the "low memory" warning many times. I think some apps are more pron to writing log files and such, but I don't know if they are written to memory or the SD card. I do know that my memory amount does fluctuate quite a bit even with the same apps running. But even when it appears to be maxed out, rarely does it seem the cause of performance issues.
