Verizon made a big mistake not getting the HTC One X

I'm on Verizon, so I have few choices in terms of phones:

Currently own an iPhone 4S.

Looked at Galaxy S3
Looked at HTC One X at AT&T Store

Verizon, you made another poor choice. The Galaxy S3's build quality blows. The Screen, like all AMOLED displays, SUCKS. It can't display white to save its life.

The HTC One X is the best Android phone I've ever used (I've owned the original Droid, Razr, and Galaxy Nexus) and one I would have chosen easily to upgrade for my iPhone 4S.

Now I'm forced to go with the iPhone 5. Good freaking job Verizon!

I came from an HTC Incredible 2 to this phone. This will be my first Samsung phone. I agree that Verizon should have gone with the one of the One series phones instead of the Inc 4G.

That said, Verizon did not make any mistakes getting this phone. I find nothing wrong with the build quality of this phone. This phone is super responsive to anything I've done.

I love the AMOLED screen. I finally have a phone I can use in bright sunlight without the screen getting washed out. As for white, how much whiter do you want?

What's great is there is side by side reviews on YouTube from known websites, and I've seen both these phones side by side myself. First turn OFF power save and auto screen brightness..... screen now is um.... awesome compared to the oneX. Th feel of plastic does scare one into fear saying it build quality and it's so fragile, look, I'd rather have flexible plastic then breakable glass any day of the week. If you want a different phone so bad, stop, go post your sgs3 in the classifieds, and get the phone you'd like.

me personally, i love this phone, feels better in my hand, lasts all day and night, and just sounds better then anything ive had or delt with.

edited for choice of words.

One X is a good device, but the lack of an SD slot makes it AWFUL, as far as I am concerned.

I will support devices that support what consumers want for options. No SD slot is the opposite of option.

Still, if VZW offered the GS3 and the OX, that would be cool, since there would be OPTIONS for upper tier devices. The OX as the only option would suck real bad IMO.

*Just because* the GS3's screen sucks, radio sucks, build quality sucks.

Mostly, I'm annoyed at Verizon for repeatedly picking bad Android phone availability.

I use and prefer what works and accomplishes the things I want it to, at a reasonable price.

I like Android OS because it provides useful things for me. I've had multiple Android OS phones. This one is light years beyond any of the others I have used. Period. Thee is no build quality issues, radio issues, or any other issues (except for the lack of a specific car dock) that I have experienced, AT ALL.

Everything that people say the HOX has over the SGS3 I think is not really the case.

Build quality - Actually for a change, Samsung did a good job here
Screen - The SGS3 screen is awesome
Power saving - The SGS3 doesn't need a 5th "Sleeper" core as it runs on 1 core when it needs via Hot plug
Radio Sucks - I dont have to take my SGS3 apart and bend bits of metal to get a signal unlike a HOX owning colleague I have.

Go look at the Incredible 4G.

I was laughing at the I4G when it was announced. However I've had mine for a week and its amazing.

Yes the screen is qHD, but that means increased performance even with the slower s4 processor. I'm getting 27fps in GL bench 2.5. The screen is also really good outdoors.

I also have a removable battery and an SD slot.

Best part is the battery. With the low rez and slower processor, I'm getting insane battery life. Screen on time is 4-5 hours on LTE.

This would have probably been better off in the Verizon forum so that's where it's going. ;)

Posting about how Phone X is much better than Phone Y in Phone Y's forum is always going to garner pretty negative, heated responses. Members are welcome to voice their opinions, as long as they do so in a manner which doesn't disrespect or insult other members. We attack issues, not each other.

Some posts have been edited/deleted, but some good points have been made so I'm ok to leave this thread open for now. If anyone has any issues with that, feel free to drop me a PM, I'm happy to discuss the matter further. :)

Isn't htc coming out with a 5 inch phablet soon?

I have seen that rumor floating around.

I for one love Sense, so I am kind of bummed out that the One X didn't come to Verizon, but I have to say I am not in full agreement with OP's statements regarding the S3. The Screen IMO is beautiful, best screen out there, although I am a huge AMOLED fan... The phone is comfortable to hold, and while plastic, doesn't scream cheap like the past Sammys do.

Add the charging back to it and it feels even more solid.

That's your opinion and you're welcome to it, but with Verizon having the best network and consistently best customer satisfaction rate I think they aren't to worried about it. As for the screen. Give me a break most current top tier phones all have fantastic displays. Stop being so anal, the S3 display is beautiful. Have fun with AT&T and your iphone.

So you got all that from playing with the phones in a store? The S3 is the best phone on the market atm.
