Motorola Droid Apps

Alright guys i picked up a Motorola Droid the other day and i have some basic questions. there are a TON of threads on here about all of these things but its so much easier just to get the answers in straight forward fashion rather than reading 28 pages of junk..

SO:

1. Give me top 10 list of apps (not games). i want to connect to my computer, i like uploading pictures from phone to computer to internet, I like apps that make the phone really simple
Apps I have:
handscent SMS (like it, is it worth it? Anything better)
aContacts (doesnt seem to work?)
Meebo IM (havent tried it yet)
and various other apps that are specific to their role (paypal, package tracker etc)

2. Are there any things i should do to my droid after just buying it? im a newb

3. Any other tips or tricks for me?

I wasn't suggesting reading so much as I was recommending an app that would completely shortcut any need for a thread of this type.

That app (appbrain... find it in market) is linked directly to the website I've linked in my post above. It syncs with the list of apps on your phone. It very nicely breaks everything into categories for you as well as giving you a list of apps recommended for you based on apps you've already installed (although I find the recommendations to be quite inaccurate). The entire app database can be browsed from your PC, so you don't have to go through Market which, IMO, is a pretty bad layout anyway.

So to cut a long story short, start using appbrain and don't look back. Recommendations from other users are pretty much worthless since the likelihood of another member having your exact interests in common is slim. Besides... that website should keep you entertained for hours and give you great ideas on other apps that exist as well. Some of which surely none of us have even heard of yet.
