New Verizon Rumor. April 1st?

Upvote 0
I am really tired with all these rumored release dates, I still don't understand why Verizon has to play games with its customers and can't just drop a release date for us. I have no intentions of leaving Verizon, I love their service, but I have to believe that this cat and mouse game that they play with their release dates doesn't help to attract new customers. I mean when you have Sprint and all the other carriers dropping info about up coming phones and you are the big boy on the block it just doesn't look good to your customers. Just needed to vent. Been reading these forums since the Passion thread. DROP THIS DAM PHONE ALREADY VERIZON!!!!

I hear ya. I hate these damn rumors and marketing games the carriers play. Rogers is doing the same with the Xperia X10.

Here is my take on why no announcement. VZ is still selling the Droid BOGO promo til April 1. If they announce a new / better phone the Droid sales stop. Notice the count down clock... If they keep the incredible quiet they sell droids as folks rush to beat the clock.

So I predict you will see a price change on the Droid to match these 3rd party sellers ($20) and the new phone announcement.

So then you ask yourself whats better a rooted droid for $20 bucks or $200 incredible?????????????

store employees have to be trained with a device before release. if this has any credibility (i didn't even click the link), it means that they will be told about the incredible april 1st and will be released a couple weeks later.

yea. My friend works for VZN and he told me he goes in for training next week. He couldn't confirm it but he did say he thinks its for the HTC inc.. He also said the phone he's going in for training for should be out 2 weeks after. He said the employees need to be trained so they know what they are talking about when they do start selling the phone.

my .02's..Im guessing the BOGO of the ends the first.. ANd doesnt vzn have a new 14 day return/exchange policy? so two weeks after, the inc comes out and everyone that BOGO droid gets screwed i guess.

My friend did say he's going in for training. ONly thing to do now is wait. I was hoping to get it before i leave for vegas but if he's right about the two weeks.I will have to wait till i come back to get the phone. I'm just as frustrated as you are... their way is like making a blockbuster movie and not giving a release date, trailer, poster, or anything under "comming soon" then expecting huge sales and legions of fans. it's stupid... and makes me loose interest.. I'm currently on AT&T and waiting on Desire news to break... if they don't by August OR they destroy it like the did the backflip I'm bailing to Verizon and the Incredible :)

Nimbus....if you're on At&t already....the new Iphone 4g is going to be sweet as well.....I'm sure.....of course you probably hate Apple or something, because it sounds like you don't have an Iphone right now?

If you don't have an Iphone......why are you still with At&t?

you are correct in that I don't have an iPhone and honestly I really don't want one.. I've had an iPod touch for about a year now and don't want essentially two of the same device. I'm looking for an all in one soultion for my next phone (HTC Desire or Incredible) since I have a simple cell phone (samsung a747) and carry the itouch for music/PDA/games.

My contract is up with AT&T in august and I'm seriously looking at which provider 1) the phone I want will work with (3g or equal) and 2) won't lock down or otherwise cripple the phone. Plus my 3g service is not the best in the Orlando fl area I'm typically on EDGE most of the time, dropped calls are also an issue. I'd have a hard time shelling out $30 a month for data when I'm going to get stuck with the slower EDGE speeds.

Verizon is a serious contender for my business come august. Trying to do all my homework now lol!

I, and others, have said this before.

1) it's not their responsibility to tell us their business plan. (damn, why doesn't ford tell us what engine they're putting in the 2012 Mustang)

2) Maybe they don't have a release date set. What should they do, say "hey everyone, we have a new phone coming out, but we don't know when yet or what the final specs are, but we want you to know this so you can talk about it amongst yourselves and NOT buy any of our current phones"

Why do so many blame VZ that we have leaks, and they wont tell us more?

Could you do me a favor and tell me specifically how Verizon is doing this? I mean, how are they playing with us? This phone is not officially announced by Verizon OR HTC. It's not like either on of them have made an announcement like HTC did with the HD2 that took so long to come to market...

Listen, I am not trying to bash Verizon, I have been with them for a very long time and not just for cellular service, I have FIOS as well. I have no intentions of leaving them either. Just saying I think they should release some info on upcoming devices. I am not asking them to inform us about their business model. I mean a simple this is what we will have coming out around these dates would be great. And yes having to get info off the Internet instead from the source that is selling it is Verizon

Verizon wont give you any details about a phone until launch is imminent. They dont want to give you a date for 2 reasons, mostly reason #2.
1. If they give you a date and have to bump it for any reason everyone bitches and moans about them not releasing it when promised. As everyone is well aware of Verizon is hardcore when it comes to testing phones and software.
2. They dont want you to know something better is on the horizon. If they gave the Incredible the same marketing push as the Droid im sure alot of people would wait for it instead of going ahead and getting a Droid or something else now. How many people on here are waiting for the Incredible instead of buying the Droid? If work didnt buy my phones for me i know i would and i love my Droid.

I'm sure that upsets some people but that's buisness and Verizon is in this game to make money and be the biggest carrier.
