Help Help, My Optimus Elite stuck on "Download is in progress. Do not disconnect cable""

I rooted my VM LG Optimus Elite with click root, then reboot it, and that came out, now when i take replace battery it appears, I tried going to the recovery menu by holding volume down+power, no luck. :(

Unplug usb cable and pull battery.

As long as you don't have lgnpst running accessing the phone you'll be ok... Seeing you used one click root I doubt you are running lgnpst in any way

Once you replace battery power it on normally first to make sure everything went ok with the root. If that is ok then you can power down and then power back on with the vol - and power button

I've tried taking off the battery and putting it back on, but the thing is if i turn it on normally, it still brings me up to that spot, but when i connect my usb to the computer i can access this.

You can try resetting phone in QPST. If you don't have it you can get it here http://conflipper.com/Software/QPST_2.7_366.rar

1. Unzip the above file once you download it and install it

2. Attach usb cable and turn on phone and let it load into download mode

3. Click start, more programs and find the QPST folder and inside that run QPST configuration

4. In QPST configuration remove any com ports listed

5. Click the add new port button which will bring up another little box, Your phone should be listed on the left side so highlight it and click ok. Remember what com port your phone is on

6. Close QPST configuration and open Memory Debug from the QPST start menu group

7.In memory debug click the browse button at the upper right side and select the com port your phone it on and click ok

8. Click the reset phone button at lower right side and your phone will reset itself and should reboot normally. If not let us know

This has gotten me out of some boot loops before but never seen an Elite want to get stuck in Download mode so give this a try and hopefully it helps

Wow never seen one stuck in download mode loop. Something with root process must have borked something with phone.

Hmm I'm not really sure if it can be recovered or not. Let me get home from work and see if I can come up with anything or maybe one of the others on the forum might step in and have an idea.

Never seen any of the root processed doing this

assuming you have everything setup for performing the jcase root method, boot up pc,then plug usb cable into phone with phone powered off, then power it on. hopefully the pc will recognize the phone properly to try the jcase root method. i know its in dl mode but looks like its only option available atm. start up lgnpst once youve got the device plugged in and on. now skip directly to picking vm dll and then proceed to flash the tot file. with any luck everything will detect properly in order to start the method. youll know if the phone shows up in lgnpst and lets you pick the dll and tot.

theres a link to that skin.dll in the main "lets get this ball rolling" thread. several of us had that error.

Though, i still wouldn't go through with this. The first phone that was flashed with the tot was flashed in download mode. It flashed ok, but it didnt backup and restore the NV items or something along those lines. When the phone came back up, it couldn't get any data access. If you go through with this, I'm pretty sure you're going to end up in the same boat.

Do you think if i successful go through it, is it possible to get my phone back to stock, then possibly root it with an apk?

The phone I mentioned (the one that was flashed with the tot in download mode) had to get replaced. I think it functioned fine as an mp3 player, flashlight, and doorstop. Not having data access made it pretty useless as far as anything that has anything to do with the internet in any way, shape, or form. That was the whole reason people had to go through the trouble to get their MSL in the first place - so they could flash the tot in diag mode instead of download mode. We knew it would be able to flash, but it would cripple the phone.

By any chance can you help me figure this out, trying to use LGNPST...I don't know where to get the DLL.... I get the error "The file path is empty"

Go in the root section, look for the thread called something like "Lets get this ball rolling". Read the entire thread. Somewhere around page 13 or so is where that brave soul took one for the team and flashed their phone in download mode and broke it. Then some more pages of people tossing out ideas and finally some pages with people getting the MSL/SPC and flashing the phone in diag mode. After the first few people started getting the flashing to work there are posts about that skin.dll missing and detailed instructions about where to put the dlls to make stuff happen.

But I still say you may as well take your phone back to the store and get a replacement now. If you try flashing that whole tot like you are planning, you are going to end up with a 1/8th functional phone and be taking at back to the store anyways.

Hmm, if i go back to where i bought it, it won't void anything in regards that it's in download mode or emergency mode?

on the back end of that,a number of us have been able to successfully reflash the tot directly from download mode without destroying nvram data. i have, and considering its not going to hurt the device anymore than it already is,its worth a try. if it doesnt work for whatever reason then take it back.

I'll try it out, since i got nothin to lose, lol.

I used poot to root my optimus elite it was working good and everything then I downloaded ROM manager and went to back up my phone it went to a screen that says download is in progress. do not unplug cable it is stuck on this screen and I forgot my my 6 digit password and lost my receipt and the only way to have a new phone sent is to know my password and they said I haven't set up a security question or an e-mail so they would have to text my password to me but my phone is stuck in download mode I would greatly appreciate any help as to any information to either fix my phone or maybe a way to get just my texts or anything.

when you mention 6 digit code,do you mean your account password? if so,man that's a tough one. without that you can't even pay your bill that I know of. if you mean your msl that will make using jcase root method tough. could try using the boot loop fixes thread and see if that gets it to boot. but I'm betting Rom manager royally messed something up.

Well poot worked, and when your gonna do something with ROM manager, i always kinda get information from sites, just to be on the safe side and get comments from users. And like it was mention, its is tough when u don't know your 6 digit pass...since that's the pass you need to transfer phone and pay your bills.

Just downloading rom manager shouldnt have broken you phone. This model is not supported by rom manager. I think you would have had to lie to the program and tell it an incorrect model before it will do anything at all.

If that is the case, then what happened is you had rom manager format and overwrite the wrong partition, and you have wiped out another partition.
