I know their are new threads everyday about how someone heard or read 2.1 is coming soon, but I got off the Phone with a sprint Manager in charge of cancelling Phones and Plans and a software technician, Here is what I basically told them.
I have been with Sprint for over 10 years and love the pricing, service, and features. I have the Hero, and talked to numerous representatives, both on the phone, and on sprints chat about the release of the 2.1 update for the HTC Hero, and every single person I have talked to has given me a different answer and I am sick of this. I told the representative all the problems I am having with the Phone and how 2.1 should fix most of them. I said I know this is not your fault, I have been a Sprint costumer longer than you have probably worked for them, Sprint falls short on setting dates for devices and upgrades. I told her I had the Diamond and wasn't aware on the solid date on its release, untill it came out, the touch pro 2 how WM 6.5 took so long, and how 2.1 can come from january until july of 2010. She said the usual I am sorry for all of this and connected me to her manager. I explained all of this to her again, and said I am not going to leave Sprint because of the pricing, but I refuse to hang up this phone without a date for the 2.1 android update for the Hero. She put me on hold and said she is going to contact her manager. The higher manager told me that the previous one had explained everything and that she understands that. She explained that she has looked through everything she can and
" Their is not date confirmed yet for the release of android 2.1 for the hero...
All it says in our system is that the final release of android 2.1 for the Hero will be availabe in either June or July."
Trust me I have read almost all posts about 2.1 and Will not believe anything about the update until I hear it from Sprint either. But this seems right.
The recently Taiwan Tweeter like service about an april 26 release was for the GSM HTC Hero.
Sprint is gonna take a long time to add stupid , worthless bloat ware. Now that I have heard this I am highly considering rooting, and adding a 2.1 Rom.
I posted this because it seems as realistic as anything we are going to hear.
