Right but I never had issues with my OG Evo. Kind of disappointing if that's what's really causing it. Still waiting to let Franco settle as well I guess...been about a day and a half now though. Does it take the battery a while to sort of "settle in" as well? Haven't flashed the new radios yet.....

It takes the battery as well as the kernel a few charge cycles to "settle". The battery has to gather enough information from your usage, etc. to run optimally.

Interesting. Let me put my full vent here.

Wifi battery life has generally been pretty decent. Last night it dropped about 6% overnight, maybe it was 8%, and I guess I can live with that seeing as how it had barely been 24 hours since my root/flash of CNA and franco's kernel. Plus at that point, I had only had the phone and battery for 24 hours anyway, so maybe it's like a new car getting crappy mileage at first...really needs some time and performance will improve.

But this morning, I took it off the charger at 97% (I put it on the charger when I got up, I use my phone as an alarm clock and I don't have a power outlet close to my bed). I dropped my son off at school and took my daughter to daycare and by the time I got to work about an hour later, I was at like 85% battery. I was not very happy. Maybe it's bad 3G signal, but I have never had battery drain like that on the OG Evo while on 3G. Maybe the battery etc is all still settling, but I expected to see better performance than this with an extended battery.

That is pretty abnormal battery drain. You may want to dl Better Battery Stats as well as CPU Spy to monitor things. With BBS you can see which process/app may be running hot and keeping your phone from going to deep sleep and with CPU Spy, you can monitor which frequencies your phone likes to stay in and when and how much deep sleep your phone is actually doing. Both apps are a MUST.

Another thing you may want to try is switching kernels. You're on franco's m5 yeah? Try his latest nightly (384 gpu version). The battery I'm achieving is on that. Lean kernel is also a really great kernel.

What is the risk of going with the higher GPU setting? I'll have to check those out. Which version of lean?

Stock GPU = 307
Slightly OC'd GPU = 384
OC'd GPU = 512

You can feel a difference in overall speed + performance when running a 512 GPU kernel w/o sacrificing too much more battery drain (but you will notice a higher drain in battery obviously). The risks are your phone may not be able to handle it, and the way you'll know if your phone can't handle it is by reboots and "artifacts" (graphical glitches).

You can dl/flash lean from Franco's app. I always suggest trying the 230 experimental, they're just as stable as the stable versions but have a 230 slot (instead of 307 which is the lowest frequency the stable version has) for better idling IMO.

Confirmed that it works. Airplane mode cycle helps. Does it hurt to leave it on CDMA/lte or does it chew through more battery than CDMA/evdo or whatever it's called.

I've heard of keeping it on CDMA/LTE draining battery quicker than having on CDMA. I wouldn't know though because I don't have LTE. Maybe just keep it on CDMA unless you need LTE.
