After searching on these forums and google, I plunged in and purchased a 64gb SDXC card for my S2 as most people had said the S2 works with it. However, the phone wont read it. Just says blank disc. I've tried formatting it in Windows both exFat and NTFS but phone still wont recognise. Phone software is up to date (4.0.4) so can anyone advise on what else I can do? Thankyou in advance.

Hello and welcome to the forums Simon. :ciao:

Have you tried formatting it with your phone?

Also, Ive read of others with similar issues who had to format as FAT32 to get it to work.

Hi. And thankyou for the welcome. The phone wont allow me to format. That option doesn't come up. It just says Mount SD Card and then SD Card Blank. I've tried going through all the settings but nothing gives me the option to format. The windows 7 option only allows me to format as either exfat or ntfs. How do i go about formatting it as FAT32 please?

If you go to settings then tap on storage, scroll all the way to the bottom, isn't there an option for format sd card?

If that doesn't work, although I haven't used it, I've seen people use this program to format. I use MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition. I've never tried it with a 64gb card but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Finally managed to get it to work. After alot of searching on t'internet found a free programme via CNET downloads called Minitool Partition Wizard which changed the SDXC card to FAT32. Hurrah! Now it reads in my phone. I'm not a computer wizard but was very simple. Thankyou though for all your suggestions. Am now going to put another thread up about trying to get spotify onto my sdcard.....again this seems a real pain in the bum.

This is why I love the friggin Internet!! Definitely worth the money (ie - NADA!).

I was having the same problem with my 64Gb microSDXC card, couldn't get my Galaxy S2 phone to read it. I downloaded the app from CNET and formatted the microSD card on my computer in FAT32 format and it worked!!

BTW, then I performed the other suggestion using xcopy to copy my old sd card files over. Seems to have worked too.

Sweet!

Thanks, guys! And thanks to ironass for directing me here! I actually had the problem of my phone not reading 64 GB cards anymore after rooting -- but this did the trick!

To anyone who encounters a similar problem, download and install the MiniTool Partition Wizard! Then change your micro SD card partition to regular FAT32! I tried to wipe the card first, but that took forever and repeatedly turned my PC off before it was done. Just changing the partition type was enough, though. (And don't forget to hit "Apply" after changing it, for it to actually take effect!) ;)
