Help One S won't connect to pc via usb

One simply won't connect to pc (Winows XP) via usb cable. the "charge only/disk drive" screen flashes briefly on the phone's screen, and windows keeps connecting/disconnecting. Never had any problems on this pc with the Hero and the Desire S I used until now. Any ideas?

Are you using the cable that came with the phone?

The problem seems to be with the usb ports on the front of the pc. I tried a different one at the back and works fine. Interestingly though, all other devices plugged in the front of the pc work fine, the One S will only connect when plugged in the back.

I had the same issue with mine, I even posted a video of the problem here on this forum awhile back. At first I thought it was a CPU compatibility issue because it didn't work with my personal desktop and personal laptop (they both have AMD CPUs) wheras my work laptop has an Intel chip and it worked fine. Then I tried another USB cable (actually tried numerous ones), specifically one with a longer and tighter plug (most noticeable on the micro side into the phone) and it worked fine in my laptop but not my desktop. Last week I bought a new case for my desktop, swapped the insides, and voila, the USB port works on the front of the case now. I think the issue is that some of the handsets seem to be a bit sensitive with the overall fit on both ends of the cable. Not sure why, my Nexus phones (One, S, and Galaxy) were all fine.

On a side note, I also have an issue with panoramic pictures. For some reason the stitching is crooked on every shot. Since I rooted the phone the warranty is invalid so I can't swap it for another one. I've tried different camera apps but they all have the same problem. I just have to deal with single frame shots, not a big deal but panorama shots are nice once in awhile. I'll probably get a new phone in a few months anyway so I'm not too worried about it.
