Help How to set default home-screen

I am having an issue with an Evo 3D. The phone has 7 home-screens on it. When you list them in the expanded view, there are two at the top, three in the middle, and two at the bottom.

For some reason, the screen that is to the right in the middle is the default home-screen. How that got set, I don't know. It is outlined in green and when you press the home button, it goes to that screen first.

I want the screen in the middle to be the default (like it used to be), but I can't figure out how to change that setting.

Suggestions?

Go to that screen and delete the contents on it, the default one should always be the center one if you are using the default sense launcher. If you are a different launcher then let us know.

Now if you are on ICS, then get to the multiple home screens by hitting the Home screen button again, and drag the screen you want in the center for default

ICS and stock launcher.

I went to the multiple screen view by pinching the home screen. The center screen is not the default and the screen to the right has a little green border around it and serves as the default screen.

UMM weird, have you tried a reboot to see if it still does the same, and maybe take a screen shot to see and post

when you press the home key twice to show th 7 screens, long press on the tile with the green line around it.. and move it to the center.. there you go.. then you will have to rearrange all your widgets and such..

Well, that is what I'm trying to avoid. I think he'd rather go to the wrong home screen temporarily until we can figure out how to properly fix it. There are a number of widgets, direct dials, and apps on both pages. Enough so that restructuring them would be a bit too cumbersome.

I assume this is not your phone, since you says that is what he is trying to avoid.

Have you tried what I said a reboot, and also taking a screen shot show we can see.

Correct, if you move the page around it moves all with it, so I am confused also, thus the reason why I told him to post a screen shot.

i guess i am confused.. apparently.. while playing with the phone.. or something.. the screens got moved around.. its very easy to do this.. not sure how many widgets you have or whatever.. that would make moving the widgets cumbersome.. but.. im pretty sure thats the only way to do it..

The screens can be moved around, but the one to the right of the middle row is the default. Not the one in the center of the screen.

If I wanted screen A to look just like it does, but make it be the default screen, I'd move it to the center in the multi-screen view. In this case, though, the center screen is not the default. It is the one to the right.

I don't know that I can get a screen shot from his phone to this forum that easily, but your second screen shot is exactly what it looks like when you press the home key from the default screen.

The screen to the right has a green border (showing that it is your current screen, I suppose), just like your photo, but it is also the default screen. When you exit an app and go to the default screen, it goes to the one on the right, not the one in the center.

If you set your screens up like in the first picture, does it default to the screen with the time and 4 folders? If you set it up like your second, does it default to the calendar? Basically, does it default to the screen located in the middle each time?

The answer is yes, the only one that will be the home screen is the green one, then he will have to set that one up exactly how he wants it, and edit the others, there is no other way around it. No matter where you change the green outlined one it will be the default

These two statements contradict one another. Is the default supposed to be the screen in the middle of the multi-screen view or is the default the one with the green border around it?

They do until you ask us to check, lol ;)

I was under the impression whichever one you put in the center would be default, you learn something new everyday.

the one with the green line around it.. is default.. click and drag it to the center.. then you will have to rearrange your widgets so they are where you want them..

What would be the reason for dragging it back to the center?

Here is an interesting wrinkle:

There are 7 screens in multi-view and, for sake of explanation, I'll number them like this:

..1, 2
3, 4, 5
..6, 7

The default was screen 5 and had the agenda in it. We moved the agenda off of screen 5 and on to screen 6, to make space for the preferred widgets on the default screen. When you went to the multi-screen view, screen 6 was now the default screen as indicated by the green border. Moved it to 7 and the same thing happened. Remember, this is moving the widget, not reordering the screens.

We had to delete the agenda widget, find the blank screen that was bordered by green, add the preferred widgets, reorder the screens, then add the agenda widget back to the screen to the right of the default screen. I think screen 5 is the default now.

That you can't simply reorder the screens to get the default screen you want is ludicrous. On my S3 (stock ICS), there is a little home icon in the top right of every screen in multi-view. If you want to change the default, you just click the icon that corresponds to the screen that you want as the default.
