Post your 3G speeds here.

Well first off it took me just shy of 6 minutes to download the app.

Ping: 955ms|970ms|1716ms (1213 average)
Down: 14kbps|28kbps|39kbps (27 average)
Up: 38kbps|49kbps|40kbps (42 average)

The first two had 1 bar the third I had two bars, despite being in an area marked as 3G coverage area and best voice service this was the best I could get.

Have you talked to vm about this? Or sprint?

I am... I've been thru every level of tech support and currently dealing with Engineering. My last ticket was entered last Tuesday and was supposed to take 24 to 72 hours and still have yet to receive any word. Every time I call I just get the "we're still working on it" line and to call back in a few days if I don't hear anything.

When I first power on or reboot my phone I will have great data speeds for a few minutes and then I goes back to being slow. Usually it will drop out completely and I have to reboot to fix it. I generally reboot half dozen or more times a day. They think it's a network issue????

Phone does get very hot at times and eats battery. Yesterday I took it off charge at about 11am and was at 20 percent by 4. This is with bloat removed and opera and Tapatalk being the only apps I've installed

They told me to try another battery, which I've done so they then told me to install a battery saver app. I'm giving them a few more days to see what they come up with.

You might try a 3G "turn off" app. I use a free on called "DataSwitch". I shut my 3G off and only turn it on as needed. I was AMAZED :car: how much longer my charge lasts!!!

I believe this is a hardware issue. Maybe a replacement phone is all you need.

Agreed. Mine lasts all day with data and wifi both enabled. I usually use it for a full hour at lunch and a few calls and texts through the day. When I plug it in at night it usually shows around 50% charge still after a full day (16-18 hours off the charger). I charge at night, and use its alarm to wake me in the morning when I unplug it and don't charge it until I go to bed again. Admittedly my usage is not heavy, but if I still have half at the end of the day I could easily use it more and still be okay for a full day. I am not using any task killer or battery saver apps of any kind.

Yup, I have and I am in a network "visioning" area. That means for the last 6 months I've had crap service and for the next 6-9 months I'll have crap service and maybe after that I'll have less than crap service, emphasis on maybe.

I am having the same issues as kwknott. I am on my 3rd Elite all with the same problem. My first was the worst my 2nd the best. I stick mine in airplane more rather than a reboot because I've found that a reboot doesn't always help (nor does going into airplane mode) but going into airplane more takes less time than a reboot.

My 3G speeds at home are good .....

Or course I'm using Wi-Fi at home, so these 3G speeds aren't doing anything for me. While away from home, most of the time I cannot even get a SMS picture message without it timing out a few times. Also 3G sucks the life out of my battery. The battery is down to 20% with 3G on all day. If I turn it on just when needed I can get two days out of it.

I'm on my 4th. The first one wouldn't activate for some reason. The 2nd one ended up with screwy power button and 3rd and now the 4th have had data issues

Do you guys think this might, at all have something to do with a poor PRL matching to your service area, because I notice when my 3g is picking up a good signal, it runs pretty fast, but it seems to me that it has a problem holding onto the signal, so perhaps the extra heat and battery drain are due to the constant trying to obtain and hold a signal.

Mine drops signal alot even in good area's. I can have no service and my wife's optimus v will have service. Once I reboot my signal comes back. I've had this issue with stock prl and with a Sprint prl. I think there's a radio issue with some of the Elites

Edit... Just called to check the status of my ticket with vm about this issue and was told it would have to be escalated once again this time to provisions dept and they require up to 72 hours. So the ticket i opened last tuesday that they said would be resolved in 24 to 72 hours is at 1 week today and they still need till Friday and who knows how long after :banghead:
