Root unroot by master reset?

ok so wouldnt this make sense or am i missing something. if you did want to unroot for the 2.1 update which im obviously not gunna do now that i just saw a post for the desire rom. couldnt you just restore your phone. like master reset? prob a stupid question so im sorry haha.

Sorry the only restore is for factory data reset which states the following:





This will erase all data from your phone, including:
  • Your Google account
  • System and application data and settings
  • Downloaded applications
It will not erase:
  • Current system software and bundled applications
  • SD card files, such as music or photos

yea thats kinda what i meant. so why dont all these people trying to unroot do that?

Because just a factory reset does not unroot your phone. If you try, it will wipe everything but you will still have root and su app.
Root is in your system, not in data or cache.
