Boston area 4G speeds

My 4G speeds have been awful for several months all over Boston. I average about 450 kbps down and 565kbps up. I've tested speeds at different locations, times as well as servers. No significant difference.

Does anyone live in the area and use Metro's 4G? If so, could you please post your speeds?

I've updated my prl regularly and it makes no difference at all. Thanks!

2.) Ping:155ms, Down:1061kbps, Up:900kbps
3.) Ping:166ms, Down:634kbps, Up:950kbps
4.) Ping:155ms, Down:455kbps, Up:556kbps
5.) Ping:175ms, Down:927kbps, Up:1205kbps

I have pretty much accepted metro not being the fastest with their 4G LTE. In fact, they are probably the slowest 4G LTE network thus far. I mean there are 3G networks, and fake 4G networks that are faster... Kinda sad really... But hey, it's fine for me. For what I do on my cellphone (mostly social networking like google plus, facebook, reddit, etc) with occasional netflix, it has worked for me without issues.

The mediocre 4G LTE speeds did piss me off at one time when I had the Samsung Galaxy Indulge. As that phone overheated, and had poor battery life for crap speeds... When more stable, more usable 3G phones on other networks had faster speeds. The LG Connect is not as bad, has a way better LTE chipset; So I have accepted the crap speeds.

Oh yea... I almost forgot... I know MetroPCS does throttle their network. So I guess your speeds will depend on where you are in the city and how many people have cellphones in that area, and how much those people are using their 4G LTE connection.

I am also on a grandfathered $50 unlimited 4G plan from when the Craft/Indulge days. I know now Metro has a TMobile approach to unlimited. They give you a cap at, after you hit the cap your connection becomes slow as molasses... You can still use the internet/data, it just wont be pleasant...

But for $55 you get unlimited 4G no throttle.

I live northwest of boston in chemsford and after seeing these speeds i dont know if i actually want metropcs now i was hoping to get at least 2mbps download...but i heard right now metropcs just have the bandwidth capped and they will open up more later i hope this is true.

Oh by the way...the new unlimited $55 plan is not truely unlimited...if you read the new plan there is a disclaimer about abnormal usuage where they can slow your speed down...from what i've heard from people on youtube you get your speed reduced once you hit 25GB

Ive tested in Salisbury, Nashua and from Fenway and never went higher than 1.3 mb down

Problem with the Boston market is that Metro only has 5 mhz of spectrum here. And until other companies up here hoarding it sell some...Metro will be handicapped. Metro is trying to get customers over to 4G(hence the unlim promo and rebates) to free up some cdma spectrum to refarm that for 4G. They have cash on hand to buy, just need to find it to buy

A company like Verizon who has 10 or 20 mhz of spectrum of course can have much higher speeds because the impact is not as hard with customers eating up 4G

yah i figured that was the case with limited spectrum. I have been looking at metropcs coverage map for boston area everyday since they announce the lg motion 4g. Its one of the last martket to get expanded lte coverage. They just expanded coverage recently so i know most people who have metropcs here are still on cdma phones and i know its going to be a while before they can refarm. I was just hoping to get metropcs for now for the 4g lte because i know its more stable connection and lower latency for watching videos and stuff. I plan on getting T-mobile once they get lte but i know that wont happen til next year and they said they will release 10x10 channel of spectrum. I guess I need to find a Metropcs store to test out their lte network.
