Help Yelp, Google Maps, Google Drive/Docs, and Zillow apps not opening by default

So in the past if I clicked on Yelp, Google Maps, Google Drive/Docs, or Zillow links from google search results, they would appropriately launch the native apps so I could see what I was looking for within the app itself. Great, this is how it is supposed to work.

However at some point a few months ago this stopped working -- and now when I click on Yelp, Google Maps, Google Drive/Docs, and Zillow links, they open up on their respect mobile websites within my browser -- not good.

I didn't change anything on my end so I'm not sure why this happened. Any way to remedy this? Thanks,

I think it had something to do with a patient infringment and HTC had to change this, go to settings > applications > app associations. Im not sure on this , someone please correct me if im wrong.

Ok, just checked. Both physical address and map address were already set to Google Maps.

Nothing about Yelp or Zillow.

I should add that the first time I clicked a Yelp link I got a pop-up asking if I wanted to download the Yelp app (which I already have installed), so I am thinking that for some reason all of these sites aren't detecting that my device does indeed have their respective apps on it.

So I called VZW support about this, it was out of their league so they patched in HTC support. HTC support unequivocally told me that yes this is how it used to work, but after an update a few months ago, it no longer works like that. (Which I already know.)

When I asked why they would regress with a feature, she seemed uncomfortable and said "I'm sorry but that's all the information I can offer you at this time." So panther I think you are spot on, this is a casualty of the patent wars going on. She confirmed that this is how it is now for all HTC Android devices. She did not know about other manufacturer's Android devices, but I would think that this specific feature would work fine on them.

This is a real bummer. Oh well, I thought I'd post the answer here in case anyone else is looking for it.
