google wallet/ NFC

does anyone know if the jelly bean update will bring google walet to the s3 and if that then mean you can use it to pay on the visa paywave checkouts??????

Yes and yes.

Caveat: Assuming AT&T and Verizon ever bring out JB and IF they don't screw with the code to prevent it.

That said, I use Google Wallet on my S3 all the time. Do a search for Google Wallet via xda forums, after you root your phone. :D

Merchants who accept Google Wallet include: American Eagle Outfitters, Bloomingdales, Foot Locker, Jamba Juice, Macy's, RadioShack, Subway, The Container Store, Toys "R" Us, Walgreens, 7-Eleven, Best Buy, BP, CVS Pharmacy, Dairy Queen, McDonald's, Office Max, Petco, Sports Authority, Sunoco, The Home Depot, Tim Hortons and other retailers.
NJ Transit also participates with Paypass and Google Wallet. Get it now!

ok so im not the best with computers and i love the phones touchwizz ui, is there anyway to get google wallet and keep the stock ui and is it easy/safe to do so?

So I am rooted and have an unlocked bootloader and nothing has changed with the OS on my S3 per se other than I now have root access. Now while this is great if you don't want to change what is there today, it also will prevent you from getting the Jelly Bean update pushed down from your carrier when it comes out. You'll have to go to the forums and watch for someone to release a rooted version of the update. Some will do this with the stock rom for Jelly Bean and it will be just like the one you would have gotten from your carrier. Others will modify it, fix bugs, etc. Most likely you'll only wait hours or a day or two for someone to release the stock update. Sometimes leaks come out too but you don't really know for sure if it will be the final or not until the final is released. Some are daring and run the leak despite the risks for bugs.

If you don't feel comfortable rooting your phone though, do not do it! Have root and getting updates is more cumbersome than having the carrier push the update to you (not by much but it is). My recommendation is if you like to tinker and are great at browsing forums, go for root. If you don't want more work than waiting for the update to be pushed down by your carrier, don't root.

I have no idea why it's being claimed that 4.1 will being GW... I've seen absolutely no indication of that. GW is being blocked by all carriers except Sprint. Every other carrier will be supporting ISIS. So it's not OD version dependent.

There is also no indication that 4.1 will be out in "less then 30 days". In actuality, it most likely won't be in the states until the end of this year or the start of 2013.

The alternative is that you can root, install GW and then unroot. Otherwise you need to wait for ISIS. ISIS was supposed to be out in the "summer", which ended 9/21 but ISIS just posted info that it's been delayed. Keep in mind... it's been delayed for almost a year now.

All the talk about american carriers really does not help, im from australia and all i wanna do is pay at the checkouts with my phone(because its cool).
is there any information that can help me out???

If you don't have it now, I see no reason why this would change in the near future. It makes no sense for Verizon, AT&T and Tmobile to back ISIS just to drop it once it finally starts. They have a big investment in it.

Disregard what he is saying. Either he doesn't realize that there are other countries in this world besides the US, or he is simply not comprehending anything you post.

By the way, Jelly Bean was officially released by Samsung today for the int'l version and for some odd reason was released to Poland first??? Rest of Europe is now following. My guess is Oceana and SE Asia will get the OTA within a couple of weeks. Enjoy. We here in the US, probably won't see if for 6 months, thanks to our idiot carriers and their damned bloatware that they have to install on our phones and no one uses.
