Samsung Galaxy Reverb

Any Virgin Mobile users here got this device yet? Thoughts on it? Worth the $250 price tag? The specs are a little bit on the low side relative to price is what I'm thinking... I was set on getting the Rise to replace this sorry POS Venture, but my eyes keep wandering off to this Samsung. I guess I have a soft spot for Galaxy devices since I loved my Galaxy S1 so much.

What do you guys think? Reverb or Rise? Is the 400 mhz faster processor and .5 inch bigger screen worth the extra $150 with the Reverb?

Not going htc. Heard too many bad things on the Evo and the One doesn't have a removable battery. Think I may just jump on the Reverb.

And I think you just listed a couple of reasons to switch to another Prepaid carrier. Data speeds alone are a good reason to switch; particularly depending on where you live.

Personally, I went with the unlocked Galaxy Nexus you buy directly from Google. I got the T-Mobile $30 plan with 5GB data before being throttled. The downside to this plan, depending on your phone usage, is that it only comes with 100 minutes of talk time. In my case, I use Google Voice and GrooveIP to supplement my minutes, particularly when connected to Wifi.

If the $30 plan doesn't work, you also have the option of Straight talk -- that is the advantage of this phone, you are not stuck on any one carrier but can use any carrier that uses GSM.

Last, if you are determined to stay VM, I'd say at least go with the sister company, Boost, and buy the Galaxy SII.

I just ordered the Optimus Elite after learning the processor is clocked to 1 ghz and finding out I can use the $25 plan. If I'm not 100% happy with the power of it I'll get a Nexus 7 to browse the net and game on and stuff. But NOBODY can beat the $25 plan. And I get great service from VM here.

I am on my 3rd Elite and still have data issues and my device gets super hot to the touch when on 3G. My 3G speeds are less than the dialup speeds I got in the early 90s. My wife's Optimus V blows my Elite out of the water. Battery life on 3G for me (with 0 use, just being on) is about 3-4 hours.

Unfortunately I didn't read about the data issues until after I had already ordered. If I have problems with the phone I'll probably just send it back and consider just signing a Verizon contract because that would be two horrible Virgin Mobile phones in a row and the upcoming Razr HD is looking sexy.

But the Evo V also has many bugs according to many users.

Samsung phones are usually great. I haven't heard any Reverb complaints yet, and it's been out for almost a month, as opposed to the Evo V's hundreds of complaints within a day of its release.

A slightly bigger screen and a slightly faster processor might not be worth it in the end honestly. An extra $15 for a phone with no complaints.

I'll get the Reverb when the price drops in 2 months like it did for the Evo lol

What bugs did you hear about the EVO V?

Well the Radio Interface shortage for one. I'd say that's the biggest thing. Some people seem to have zero problems with it though...so it's kind of like the Triumph fiasco, where you either get a great working phone, or a complete dud as far as that goes. I wouldn't spend that much on a phone that doesn't let me text half the time.

There's been a bunch of other reports of the phone randomly turning off or not waking up, and you have to remove the battery like twice a day.

Both those issues don't seem like a big problem to me, but for the price they were originally selling the phone for, definitely not worth risking the money on a dud.

I've had the Evo V for about 24 hours, and it was a tossup between that and the Reverb.

Reasons I stuck with the V instead?

1) Price. It was cheaper on Amazon. (On sale for 229 vs 250 for the reverb)

2) 3D. That feature is so cool. I'm always browsing 3D stuff

3) 4G. Yes, I live in a dead zone for 4G, but hey...why not have it anyway?

4) I've always had good luck with HTC Devices (Except the Wildfire S.) Have been texting up a storm with my new phone, and have not had one issue with an error returned or anything of the sort.

If you DID get the reverb, though, I'd be curious to hear about how it is. Samsung makes decent products at times.

Do NOT get the Rise. It's a TERRIBLE phone. I thought that with ICS it would make it a pretty smooth phone. Wrong. It was laggy right out of the box and within the first hour I had my first random reset.

I currently have the Reverb and I think it's a great phone! I've had the EVO, and I had radio Shortage Interference messages all the time making me take the phone back. After that I got the One V. This is a great phone as well. (Entry Mid Range speaking)

Right now if I had to choose between the Reverb and the HTC One V, I would actually choose the One V. I'm considering taking this phone(Reverb) back and getting the One V just because the One V is 4.0.3 allowing me to move things to the SD card.
One of the biggest problems I have with the Reverb is the amount of internal storage used before you even start using the device. I did a factory reset and opted to stick with the touch Wiz and not install the ID packs that VM sends with the phone and it looks to have salvaged about a GB of space. HUGE DEAL when dealing with Low Internal Space.

A few of the stats have changed after receiving a new moniker. For example, the EVO V 4G now has ICS and is a dual core. This is a comparison of the sprint 3D which is basically the exact same phone.
