Help Notifications in Status Bar

I just received an Incredible 4G as an Asurion upgrade for my dead Inc2 and have noticed a couple of icons popping up in my status bar that I would like to remove.

For one, I do not need to be informed that my WiFi is not connected to a network and it annoys me to no end. Is there a way to remove this?

Also, I have Swift Key installed and every time I type a message using the keyboard an icon shows up in the notifications area informing me again that I am using Swift Key. Again, this is unnecessary; is there a way to remove this?

I'm not sure on the Wifi icon, that may be part of Sense. Only way I can have my stock GNex not notify about WiFi is to turn wifi off.

As far as the keyboard icon, this is because things changed a bit between GB and ICS in how you copy and paste. By extension this affects how you choose keyboards, so that icon is the solution.

To copy / paste, you now long press in a text box and then drag the arrows to the beginning and end of what you want to copy. If you have anything on your clipboard, long press in a text area and you can past.

Since long pressing a text area was how you used to swap keyboards, Google had to come up with another way to accomplish this, so they came up with the keyboard in the notification area.

I hope that makes sense.

I'm more impressed they gave you a 4G as a replacement! People will be freaking out about that!

I have a way with words... I've also managed to get my wife an iPhone 4 for free after having a lot of difficulties with her LG Envy; no early upgrade or anything. I don't enjoy having my hard earned money get wasted on a) deficient equipment b) moronic customer service, and most importantly my time is invaluable.

Getting back on topic, I just ran into the "feature" where I can view my message texts from the lock screen by pulling down the notifications bar? How do I disable being able to read the messages while still maintaining the new message notification?

According to an HTC tech support rep I was dealing with on a separate issue, the persistent wifi notification is a Verizon thing. If it bugs you -- as it does me -- complain to Verizon. And the more people that do is a good thing. I also complained about Verizon charging for "visual voicemail" (Sprint includes by default for free) and Verizon blocking the HTC Hub app (that Sprint also includes, and it adds a huge amount of value to any HTC phone). My only regret in getting this phone is I had to switch from Sprint to Verizon. The underdog always tries harder. And the top dog, Verizon, don't seem to give a dam* about anyone. :|
