Tuesdays almost over, can we start making decisions now? It was a rough weekend. My friends wanted to know if we should go mexican or italian and was rather hard to explain why I couldn't make a decision. I also have a test tommorrow and need to decide on the answers.

Oh, also, would like to make a decision on the phone too.

I believe I have the answer.

Italian. :D

Atrix 2 for AT&T is getting ICS pushed out now, I doubt Moto would push out updates for two phones during the same week but who knows......

(I haven't heard anything. It is quite possible that the information I was given was bogus.)

So your saying us .232 people cant upgrade to the ota ehen its released without going back to .905?

Or are you saying we wont recieve the update but can still download it and flash it?

1. yes
2. no you won't receive (get pushed) the update on anything but .905, you can still manually do updates via HOB or FXZ back to .905 and wait for the update to be pushed.

It has been made very clear in many posts that you somehow MUST BE ON THE UPGRADE PATH (.905) to be able to receive OTA updates hence all the warnings on 235 and above. That's why I provided links for RSD and the .905 FXZ :( I will add a big red warning to the download links thread though.

So.... If I am on .905 now, make a nandroid, then get on one of the 'safe' ICE leaks (meaning I can get back to GB from it), when the OTA finally arrives, why wouldn't I be able to recover using my nandroid backup and be back 'on the path'? (Meaning back to GB .905)

Is that because nandroids are there to save your butt when flashing ROM's, but once you take the ICS leak path, you have changed too much "stuff" for using your nandroid backup to be able to get back?

(Kind of like using recovery discs from Windows 3.1 and expecting it to work on Windows 7)

If that's the case, why not just grab an ICS leak, not worry about a backup at all, and run with it? The only things I really wanted to do w/ root access was freeze bloatware. lol Custom ROM's do not call to me. :)

ICS does. Having a stable 4g w/o data drops does. lol Hell, even normal screen shot taking does.

Guess I'm just getting tired of waiting for the OTA (I know... like EVERYONE else isn't.)

From what I understand, you have to go back to 905 than take the OTA. You may can get an OTA file and flash it if someone puts up the exact file but Thom or Dautley or someone else will have to answer for sure.

But that's not that big a deal to flash back and take the OTA. Those who went past 232 can not go back at all and have to do a diffucult workaround to get the OTA update.

So.... If I am on .905 now, make a nandroid, then ...

What I have read here MANY times is that your options are ...

- Wait for the ICS OTA.
- Install up to 6.7.232 and when the OTA comes out revert to 5.9.905 and accept the OTA. If you install past 6.7.232 you cannot return to 5.9.905.

Please post your questions about root-ing and activities that require a root-ed Bionic in ... Bionic - All Things Root - Android Forums.

what you could do is flash the .905 fxz, restore your .905 nandroid and then take the OTA for ICS. You can not restore a different nadroid if the radios are different because it will cause issues and FC.

What I have been reading is ... hold off on making any decision until Tuesday.

"I have been thinking about the long delayed update and have been guilty along with others of putting the majority of the blame on VZ. However, if flash is the holdup and it didn't work in previous builds but works now in build .246 (from other forums) then since Moogle writes the updates then they are responsible. I think they may have had the gig crew at the sweeps when they needed the varsity. Sometimes it is difficult to teach a hamster to say "row". Even if Flash was not the problem there was apparently a defect in the previous builds causing VZ to reject them and Moogle to write others (several in fact). This is purely a suspicion on my part based on information from blogs, tech sites, other forums etc. and is not conclusive but does seem reasonable. VZ has, on the other hand, been extremely generous in swapping out phones for customers, often numerous times. I feel fairly sure that VZ is having growing pains with the LTE network based on several trips I have taken recently, Columbus OH just this past weekend, where I had superb LTE reception.(our hotel was right under a tower) with minimal and very short drops. Speed was excellent as was GPS navigation. Performance on my stock GB Bionic was excellent.

I have a lot invested in my Bionic, numerous accessories, and my coveted unlimited data. I do not want to mod my phone or update too soon but I do want a solid ICS OTA. I am encouraged by Mr. Soni's statements and continue to wait for the OTA and more communication."

The above is a partial copy of a post on another forum. Tuesday has come and gone and yes, there is apparently a soak in progress......for the Atrix. What have Bionic owners been told? Nada, just more rumors. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the rumors since that really seems to be the only information we are getting. As for Mr. Soni........strike one!

No one said Flash was the holdup by itself.

I pointed out that .246 fixed Flash issues that were prevalent in every ICS leak previous. That was not the only fix, just the one that was the easiest to verify.

And, I'll say it again - 4G has been rock solid on ICS leaks, and the phone is tons more responsive even without freezing all of the bloatware that comes installed.

As for blaming VZW, well, yes, you have to, b/c until VZW says yes Moogle is forced to keep going back to the drawing board to change things. As things get delayed they then also have to update patches for system apps as well as newer versions of those are released in the Play Store.

John, I certainly respect your opinion but Moogle did push bad ICS updates to the Razr and Razr Maxx. It is possible that VZ doesn't want a repeat as they take the majority of the heat for a bad upgrade. I understand flash probably isn't the only issue but they were apparently able to fix it in .246. I would like to know the real reason for this delay but it doesn't look like either VZW or Moogle is ever going to tell us.
