Help Swithcing to the MOMENT...possibly HELP!

ok guys im considering jumping ship and coming over to the moment from the hero. I got a friend lined up that is down to trade me but i wanted to know why you guys think the moment is better. Ill tell you what i have heard about the moment from the hero forum so let me know what you think of these issues.

I have heard the moment has HORRIBLE battery life and that the battery meter doesnt show a accurate percentage. I have also heard that the moment is bulky and the keys on the keyboard are oddly placed. I have heard the touch screen is not very receptive and that it does into airplane mode randomly....

thats what i have heard let me know what you guys think. To me the hero is a bit laggy and the on screen keyboard is beginning to drive me nuts. i like the moments keyboard so if you guys can give me good reasons i may be making this forum my home:cool: thanks for reading sorry its long!

I'd say battery life is a challenge with both. But that's generally the nature of smart phones. Turn off unnecessary crap, and you should get a full day out of either, unless you're a heavy user.

The key placement on the Moment is pretty much a non-issue. After a 30-second adjustment, you'll find your keys just fine.

It's a bit bulkier.. but that's the tradeoff with a physical keyboard. It is quite a bit heavier than the Hero. You'll know it's in your pocket, but it's not too cumbersome.

The touchscreen is definitely not as receptive as the Hero. Those who have used both should be able to admit to that. But no phone is just the way you want it to be.

anything else? how exactly is the battery life? are we talking 4-5 hours or at least 8? please lend me your opinions on the two phones!

the battery for me on moderate to heavy use (1 to 3 checks to SDX and android forums a hour, some facebook, plus texting all day, 2 to 3 phone calls) lasts me through the whole day with about 30% to 15% battery left when i goto sleep. With light use (my definition of light use is is texting all day with one or 2 phone calls) the battery will have 60% at the end of the day. hope this helps out kinda

Bulky is opinion (in mine it is tolerable due to having the keyboard).

He said it best! Bulky is an opinion, anyone who says the moment is bulky obviously hasn't used the palm centro... now that is a heavy bulky phone.

Personally I think it feels perfect, weight and size! When I went in the sprint store to check out the HTC Hero, it felt small, and fragile, and I didn't like that one bit!

I actually have both the hero and moment. hardware wise the moment is hard to beat it is better than the MOTO Droid hardware wise but software wise the hero wins hands down. you can imitate some of the things on the moment that the hero has like lockscreen, weather clock, music widget, calendar widget and even get a home replacement that gives you resembled home screen interface. but the hero has a lot of other things that aren't duplicated like the built in Facebook with contacts, the lightup trackball, better battery and the screen feels better to the touch on the hero. but after 2.1 for the moment the updates that it will bring will make Mr put my hero to the side. I currently have a rooted hero with 2.1 and it only added some noticeable features but I don't use them anyway like the multitouch homescreen and the flash. I the. flash off on my hero cause it slows the browsing down. so if I were you I would get the moment just for the future it has. the hero is already matured and not so impressive anymore.

The Hero's SenseUI glides from homescreen to homescreen so silky smooth.. and the Moment, for whatever reason, feels totally inferior where the interface is concerned. Stuttery home screen scrolling and app drawer open.. I have no idea why, as the hardware specs (on paper) for the Moment is better. But usability goes to the Hero right now hands down. Now, whether that will change with 2.1 on the Moment, no idea.

are there any moment users out there who ditched th Hero? if so give me your reasons for doing so...im on the VERGE of switching like tonight! but i want to make sure its the right choice. do you really miss sense ui? or is the standard android working okay for you guys? let me know please!

I have the hero and my girlfriend has the moment. We both love our phones, so obviously it is a matter of opinion. When I use her moment I definitely notice that it is MUCH faster than my hero (rooted with fresh 2.1d). I've considered switching to the moment for this reason alone.

now...as other's have said, software is much more superior on the Hero. Once 2.1 officially gets released, that gap will shrink quite a bit. 5 home screens compared to 3, and even more performance increases. If I were you, I'd switch to the moment and just deal with it for another month or so or whenever 2.1 finally gets released.
