What have you found new or different in 2.1?

Personally, I want my Cyanogen back...

It seems to run well enough for me - all my apps are working just fine. But it seems like we got gip'd. The Milestone got 9 screens, we still need an app to go beyond 3.

Overall, it doesn't seem like it got us very much.

I'd like to know the reasoning behind only giving us 3 screens. It just doesn't make much sense. But I'd agree with you, overall there's not much to it. Makes me wonder why I was so excited for it in the first place.

Besides the few obvious changes like live wallpapers, pinch to zoom, etc. Have you found any other changes that you really like or dislike? Seems to run good for me, but I guess I was just expecting more. What do you think?

Well the most obvious change is no more "When are we getting 2.1 update" threads! :D

This will soon be replaced with "When are we getting Flash 10.1" threads. At least now...there is REALLY something to look forward to!

I said several times to people who were rooted and contemplated going back to stock to get the update, NOT to unroot for the OTA 2.1. I feel bad for some of you that had your hopes and dreams pinned on this update :(...it was never supposed to be THAT big of a deal but somehow, it got blown out of proportion.

I figure it will be rooted shortly. Plus it lets me see what is different to help answer my wife's (or her best friend) questions. I'm not going to be to upset waiting a short period before i get back to the custom roms.

So far I'm just happy that it seems to be running snappy, Google earth is fun and fairly snappy.
I can't complain, it was put out to be a bug fix and I think it did exactly that.

I installed Google Earth and played around with it. Then I noticed it was over 22mb and said holy #@%& and uninstalled it! That's too big for an app I'm barely going to use.

Yeah, I am clueless why it got so blown out of proportion. We've known for a while exactly what was going to be on this update (ever since the ese53 leaked).
And guess what? There were no surprises - it was exactly as we thought. Some people apparently only paid attention to rumors and wishes as opposed to reality. :D

I think it is a great update - exactly what was needed. MultiTouch, the pinch zoom, the News widget, live wallpapers, Google Earth, etc. Though the fact that it has only 3 homescreens is apparently devestating news to many people - I wish my life was so simple that the number of homescreens on my phone was cause for my attention. ;)

Oh no doubt, its a fat girl. but it is fun. I'm sure I will uninstall it as I need more memory but even with it and close to 40 other apps installed I have 170M Free so it doesn't look like I'll need to uninstall it anytime soon.
I went through and uninstalled everything I don't want/use before updating, I now have 190mb free! Im sure I'll be reinstalling some though soon.

Don't be mistaken..people saw 2.1 on the Nexus One and wanted it. People were talking about live wallpapers and '3d' gallery.. Droid users felt left out. Other carriers rushed to announce a 2.1 update...so it was bridging the gap. My phone does feel slightly more capable now, and it's not a huge leap..but it's a decent update and they fixed quirks. Google Earth is there. To bad the new launcher is missing and Adobe drooped the ball with flash(but the N1 doesn't have it either so..). So anyone thinking it was going to make the Droid different than what it already was were fooling themselves...but all in all it's a nice update.

Here's a nice one:

If you put your phone on vibrate, it won't interrupt your music anymore when you get a notification. You'll only get the vibrate.

Whereas in 2.0.1, it would cut out the music (but not play any sound).

lol...this pisses me off every day on way home, when I'm playing music over bluetooth through my car stereo. I'll be looking forward to that fix when the 81 based ROM's come out.

I thought it was pretty cool until I zoomed in on my house and waited for the picture quality load and get better and it never did. Does this happen with you?

I don't think Adobe dropped the ball. Don't get me wrong, I feel like we COULD have this by now but Adobe didn't say it was coming until sometime int the first half of 2010 (which REALLY means we'll have it in May or June probably). Flash was NEVER set to be part of the 2.1 update.
