Hi All

Need a quick answer as I'm helping my girlfriend switch to at&t

She is currently on my Verizon wireless account with her dumbphone. The account is out of contract and she wants to move over to at&t and buy an iphone while I want to stay with Verizon.

Do I need to do anything first on the Verizon side in order for her number to port over? Or can we just order her phone right now online and port it straight away?

Thanks!!

1st are the two of you on a shared plan or the old family plan, or do you have two individual accounts?

If it's 2 individual accounts, and her contract has run out and she is paying month to month she's fine to drop Verizon. BUT DO NOT CANCEL OR CLOSE THE VERIZON ACCOUNT UNTIL THE PORTING IS DONE! If she does, she will loose her number.

She can just go to AT&T purchase an iPhone and port her number to the new AT&T account. AFTER the number has been ported, she can close her account with Verizon.

Thanks, we are on a shared plan. Does that change anything? One bill. my phone is the master account, i added her to my account after. i pay 9.99/mo for her to be on my account.

We are both going month to month now, contract was up on 01/2012

We decided to hold off until tomorrow until we figure it out

And the reason she wants an iPhone on AT&T instead of Verizon is...????

Also, wouldn't it be less expensive to have a shared data plan with one carrier (AT&T or Verizon) rather than two individual accounts?

Best of Luck, whatever you decide, :smokingsomb:
