I doubt anyone is as excited about this as I am but with the 2.1 update, the Moto Droid has received the Nexus One News and weather app. I have been searching for something like this for along time and there were a few out there but nothing like the one that 2.1 has just given us. I know I sound like a loon but news and weather is part of my daily morning ritual and this just made it better!

no, this IS one of the things I really want. the weather app I have seen in the commercials.

you could have been enjoying this for months now...even without rooting.

how so?

I like that too, but even more exciting is the move of the Amazon MP3 icon in the launcher! Next, total removal!!!!

agreed, remove it 100%.. and then also remove Farcebook, YouTube - should be optional not forced to have

It looks like they changed Amazon MP3. The old icon didnt work and now it is in my app list as MP3 Store.

I guess I am the only one that uses amazon for MP3.

I've tried to use it but it didn't have the songs I was looking for.

iMusic is decent but it just searches the web for MP3s

I guess I could do what everyone else does and just use limewire to download mp3s and then move them to my phone.

No it won't work with the "Use my location" thing. It doesn't even turn the GPS on.

Do you have both "Use Wireless Networks" and "Use GPS Sattelites" turned on (in the phone settings, not the app). When I first started using it (few months ago), it wouldn't work for me until I turned on Use Wireless Networks. Then you have to go back in to the app (weather portion) and click "refresh" while on "Use my location"...

Sort of on the same subject....I had the transparent News and Weather app before and loved it. It's still on my SD card. When I try to install it it just says uninstall through Astro File Manager. So I hit uninstall and it says uninstall not successful. I can't find anywhere to uninstall the one that came with 2.1. Anyone know how to do this? Afraid it may have to wait until 2.1 is rooted....

Are there any settings for the news and weather widget? I could have sworn it looked much different when I saw screens of it that it does on the Droid 2.1

There are quite a few settings for it actually, they allow you to pick the amount and topic of news that scrolls as well and your weather location. Others are also included. What is it that looks different to you? You have to have your phone in upright (not landscape) to see the temp otherwise it is just the weather type.

Does anyone know if it's possible to change the language / locale of the news and weather widget? I had the Nexus One installed, and my system language was english. So the news was in english too, as well as from english sources (which translates to: better and more news).

Now since the 2.1 update, my milestone has Dutch language added to the list, so I switched to that. Unfortunately that meant pretty much only dutch language news, from local sources. So the amount of interesting news posts has decreased by 500%. I'm hoping there's a way to make it search for US sources, but still retain the Dutch system language? Otherwise, I'm tempted to switch back to English altogether.
