My nexus s is giving me trouble. While phone is on, keeps waking and sleeping on its own randomly like the power button is being pressed.
If i try to press the power button myself to put it to sleep sometimes it brings up the power off menu instead (as if I've held it), and the rest of the time it does nothing. If i do try to hold the power button to get the power off menu, nothing happens. If i manage to get the power off menu and press Power Off, it starts to power off and then hangs. I have to remove the battery to power off. If i put the battery back in, it automatically turns on.
When it does go to sleep, pressing the power button won't wake it. Tapping or jarring it near the power button will sometimes work.
It's as if the power button is stuck where it connects to the board and it can't be unstuck to return to normal functioning.
A Google search find other people having a similar problem, and apparently it is an issue that the Power Button wears out after a while. I've seen an app called "Fix broken power button" recommended, and I tried it, but it didn't really solve my problem. It does let you wake the phone with the volume key, and put it to sleep with a widget, but it doesn't solve the problem of the phone constantly going to sleep and waking on its own (sometimes "flickering" every few seconds between the two).
Anyone else have this issue?
