Hi all, just put 4.1.1 on my Galaxy Nexus (Verizon) and since i have had the phone i have not been able to sync facebook phone numbers. I have seen a bunch of stuff about google and facebook not getting along so the feature was disabled. Ive seen apps that will sync everything except for it seems the phone numbers which is all i care about (pictures would be nice too if possible but not a big deal if not) Is there a way to sync facebook phone numbers on my phone?

Contact syncing doesn't work on ICS and above for Facebook; I believe there are a few apps in the market (play store) that will do it for you.

This is partially correct.

There are apps that can sync profile photos, status updates, address (city, state only I think). There are however no apps that will or can sync phone numbers. I miss this also, but unfortunately I really don't think it is going to change anytime soon.

damn that stinks, deleted all of my contacts recently and i figured it would be an easy way to get them back lol.

do you happen to know why this happened, or even why there are no 3rd party apps that do it? i figured even if it wasnt officially supported, someone would have found a way to do it.

Thanks for the replies everyone

edit: also trophynuts, i see in your devices that you are not happy with the battery life of your galaxy nexus? i thought i did notice a drop in mine. battery life seems terribad now and i even have the extended battery.

It happened because for the first couple years of Android Google allowed Facebook to violate their TOS to allow one way syncing of contacts. After a couple years and Facebook would still not follow Google's TOS Google got rid of their exception over a year ago. This probably had something to do with the launch of Google+ and Google's desire to grow that and it coming pre installed with Android. Anyways the point is, Google just makes Facebook play by the same rules as everyone else now.

This is more on Facebook. If they wanted their app to be able to sync it could. If they wanted to let a 3rd party app sync numbers they could allow it. I think the issue with that is how much everyone flames Facebook over privacy, so they at least want to keep phone numbers locked down.
