Install instructions

This is an update.zip. I suggest doing a factory reset (wipe data). Installing over other 2.1 ROMs may be possible, but do it at your own risk.

If you have Facebook, Goggles, Wifi Tether, Wired Tether, or Spare Parts installed already on your /data/ partition (meaning you installed from the Market or updated from the Market), please delete them first, or else you will run into conflicts (having two copies of the same app).

This is a full install file. You don't need to install any other ROM first before you apply this update. In fact, if you know how to, I encourage wiping the /system partition, along with /data and /cache (factory reset) :D

SPRecovery Instructions
-rename file to update.zip
-place on root of sdcard (not in any folders)
-reboot into SPRecovery
-select install, allow update.zip, then install update.zip

Clockwork Recovery Instructions
-Place file on SDcard
-Reboot into Clockwork recovery
-Install .zip from SDcard
-Find the file and install it

Some Notes:

-Kernel defaults to 600MHz, slots are 250/500/600/700/800/900/1000
-Kernels for ESE53 will work on this ROM
-I took the 3P baseband update out. I don't like the idea of repeatedly flashing that when it's not necessary (and it causes you to lose your vocode settings). If you need the new baseband, check this thread:

http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-droid/58076-release-update-baseband-c_01-3e-03p.html

Suggestions

-Do a PRL update *22899 or *228 option 2
-SetCPU (available in market)
-Android Terminal Emulator (free in market, this name, not the other one)
-Change transitions to 'fast' using Spare Parts
-Before you decide on which launcher to make default, go into the other one and delete everything off the desktop
-If you're using HelixLauncher2, set the number of screens to 5 and turn off auto-rotate
-Report your bugs/success here!
-Follow me on Twitter! (I can get back to you more quickly that way)

HINT - For those of you who don't know, you can bring up the 'card view' of all your homescreens in HelixLauncher2 by double-tapping an open space on your homescreen, or by holding down the app launching 'grid' thing.

BUGS

-When you fast scroll in the Music app, the pop up letters are incorrect
-It may hang the first time you put it in the Multimedia dock, if you have both the media station and desk clock installed. Either choose a default, or uninstall the one you don't want to use. Only happens once :(

Wallpapers from NexBeast

I didn't include them in the launcher this time. They're actually quite large files, so I've just zipped them into a separate file. This way, you can save some space.

Wallpapers.rar

Alternate Market Icons

I also have the stock and original NexTheme (HTC) icons:

Metamorph Files here:

Revert to Nexus Themed Neural Network

Big ups to sniffle at Alldroid for porting this over to ESE81. Download the following file:

LiveWallpapers-Nexus.apk

Rename to LiveWallpapers.apk and slap it on your sdcard, then in terminal:

Code:
su
switchlwp

Make sure you run 'enablescripts' first :D

Themed HelixLauncher from R2

com.helixproject.launcher.apk

Install by adb:
Code:
adb push com.helixproject.launcher.apk /system/app/

Or, drop the .apk on your sdcard and:
Code:
su
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
busybox cp /sdcard/com.helixproject.launcher.apk /system/app
mount -o remount,ro -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
sync

Enjoy, and let me know how it works out for you guys.

Fab,
Are you applying this after updating to 2.1 stock with Root and SU? Or after going back to 2.0.1? I'm assuming the first as this is just a theme update, right?

Edit: NVM.
I used ROM Manager to download the stock ESE81 with proper root and SU (from Pete). Flashed that. Then applied yours as an update. Then add Chevy's kernel and all is working well. That pretty Droid market icon looks sweet! hehe!

Good job once again Fab! Moving up in the world of modding ;)

Thanks guys. You actually don't even need to install the stock ESE81 ROM. You can just flash this update. It is a full install.

I've been playing around with this w/ AdamZ's 1GHz kernel and it's flying. I think getting rid of HelixLauncher2 helped (though I miss my 3D effect, I love the additional RAM).
I too fell in love with the 3D launcher. It was just so pretty. But that RAM hog just wasn't fitting me well. I only had success with it when using Cyanogen...any other ROMs just had issues all over the place...even the Helix2 version...so I just gave up until someone (hopefully) can make it less of a resource user.

I see that you say its a full install. Guess I could've gone that route, but I chose to do everything from scratch. I'm bored anyway so time is of no matter. Does AdamZ's kernel support tethering? Pretty sure it does. I may just stay with Chevy's 7-slot LV though. Always had complete success with his work.

Another note, with the radio upgrade, I went from -94 to around -75. I'm usually in my basement about 80% of the time I'm at home and this signal increase is a definite improvement!

So.......when are we getting Android 2.2? hahaha...had to do it :p

Dammit Fab...

I was getting very comfortable and maybe just a little complacent with your NexBeast and now you got me flashing this monster. How will we have time to put out the fires in the "I just unrooted and bricked my phone" threads??? :)

BTW - I also reluctantly dumped the 3d launcher. Runs much smoother without it.

Update: Running smooth as silk with Chevy Low Voltage 1.0
RAM improved from 35 to 66 (with lots of widgets running)

I'm glad you guys are having success with this!

The 3D launcher is no longer even a thought in my mind, because the extra RAM is just so damn nice! I haven't experienced a single instance of the home screen lagging and needing to be redrawn, even as I have many more apps open than previously on NexBeast.

What do you guys prefer in regards to the kernel? Have it come with a non overclocked and then just flash OC yourselves? Or have it come pre-overclocked with an update.zip for the 600MHz kernel?

My opinion is don't pre-install it. Giving people the options would probably be the better way to go. Some people may want to run a faster kernel, like me for instance lol. How's your ROM running on your phone? Any problems yet?

The only question I have about this is the baseband update? Something important to do or something that isn't necessary? I'm assuming it would come with the official OTA update.

If you're satisfied with your reception, then there's no need to update it. Some people have seen some good results with the new baseband though.

Personally, I haven't noticed too big of a difference. I just like having what's newest :D

Yeah, that's what I'm leaning towards too. The ROM's been running great for me. I can't find any bugs yet. The 50% signal loss thing is gone. The 'enablescript' script no longer needs to be chmodded. Everything is just so...nice :D
