Hello A25 users,
You may not know me but I m well-known in A52, A70, A73 & A75 community.
I am the one who found the way to root Micromax's devices by modifying boot.img & then using UnlockRoot or SuperOneClick to root the device.I first applied that method on my A75 & now it's the only method to root A52 also, they recently get rooted by this method only.
I m positive that same method will work on A25 also...I don't own this device so can't test the method but it's working for almost all micromax devices.

Now coming to point,
I have modded original boot.img to root your device.
I am going to explain step by step how to root your device. The I will explain how to get romdump of the device.

Download the following files.

1) Unsecured boot.img (zip contains unsecured boot.img + A25 scatter file)
2) SP.FlashTool
3) A25_USB_VCOM_Drivers
4) UnlockRoot
5) Original boot.img (You don't need to download this to root the device)

Note: Use my username as pw to download above files.
Advantages of my boot.img: I have added init.d support plus ext2.ko,ext3.ko & ext4.ko modules initialization on boot.Just place this ko files in /system/lib/modules/ after rooting the device, u will be able to use Link2SD with ext2,3 or 4 filesystems on your 2nd sdcard partition.

Reference for flashing: MT65x3 flashing tutorial

Read the above tutorial first so u get idea how to flash an img file using SP FlashTool.

STEPS TO FLASH BOOT.IMG:

1) Run SPFlashTool, preferably as administrator (not mandatory)
2) Select USB mode under Options
3) Click Scatter-loading & select scatter file you downloaded from above links.
4) It will automatically load boot.img if it's in the same folder with scatter file otherwise click BOOTIMG & select the downloaded unsecured boot.img
5) Turn off the device fully, remove the battery for 5 seconds to be sure n re-insert the battery but do not power on device.
6) Attach the usb cable with PC but not with device
7) Now click on "Download" button on SPFlashTool, it will show searching for device in lower panel.
8) At this time, attach the cable with device in power off state
9) It will search for drivers, select the USB_VCOM_Drivers u downloaded from above links. You may have to go to Device Manager to manually install the driver.
10) By that time if SPFlashTool shows some error then don't panic, just make sure that there is no ongoing flashing process on SPFlashTool n if the device is showing battery charging animation then it's safe to detach the cable. Detach the cable n follow step 7 again.
11) Now as soon as u attach the cable to device in power off state it will show a progress bar in lower panel n then a dialogue which states successfully flashed n another dialogue showing green colored ring n stating Download OK.
12) Close the dialogues, close the program n reboot the device by pressing power key.

STEPS TO ROOT DEVICE:

1. Power on device.
2. Enable USB Debugging.
- Settings > Application tab > Applications > Development > USB Debugging
3. Install UnlockRoot in pc
4. Attach device using usb cable in debugging mode(u just enabled it in step-2) to pc.
5. Now Run UnlockRoot program and click Root button
6. Confirm online device Micromax A25 in the list which pop-up.
7. Let in finish the procedure and Restart device when is asks.
8. See new Superuser app in app drawer
9. Viola...!!! Your A25 is now rooted.

UnlockRoot does not install Busybox on device so after u rooted the device install busybox to work with many root apps.Search Play Store for Busybox Installer by Jrummy OR BusyBox free by Stericson...

HOW TO GET ROMDUMP:
Following link to my other thread will explain how to take romdump of your device.
http://androidforums.com/a52-all-things-root/628032-make-romdump-mt6573-mt6575-device.html

DISCLAIMER:
I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please do some research if you have any concerns before flashing! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.

I have fixed the links...
I used the files u provided but I still get the error message. I even tried SP Flash tool 5 from MMX but I get absolutely no response from it. There is one way to flash the boot image. Through fastboot using the command "fastboot flash boot boot.img". But for that I need to boot into fastboot mode or bootloader mode. I tried all possible key combinations but I'm unable to boot into bootloader or fastboot. I also tried the adb command "adb reboot bootloader" and "adb reboot fastboot" but the phone reboots normally. Do you know of a way through which I could boot into the said modes?

the sp flash tool for a75 is an older version. Older versions of SP do not support MT6575 scatter files. I wish someone would try to root A25 too. There's nothing more that I can do. I have tried everything. I guess A25 takes the crown for the title 'THE ANDROID THAT WAS NEVER ROOTED'. Sigh!

I tried connecting the phone to the usb cable without inserting battery and then inserted it after I have connected the phone. Same BootROM thing. I tried it on my computer and on college PCs. This is so frustrating.
I shared modded system.img for A52 to root via sp flash tool, they had this same error n that was solved by correct sp flash tool version which i suppose was taken from mmx ftp server...n then it worked, so u should try that version if ur device is MT6575...i thought A25 is MT6573..

The ones I've been using are compatible with MT6575. It's just the BROM thing. When I flashed my A50 by this method, it didn't take 10 minutes and it was my first time.

It's not about MT6575...there are many versions of sp flash tools which support MT6575 but all are not compatible with every device...u need a specific version for your device, one i gave u is the specific for A25, AFAIK, because mmx is also using the same one.

any way :congrats: to hard work.... but please upload clear instructions....if u got succeed

The instructions will be clearer to you if you do it with you own hands. Please join us in trying to get this phone rooted. We need your help. To recognise what we are doing wrong, we need more information. Follow the instructions that Mastermind has given and if you succeed, well, congratulations. But if you don't succeed, tell us what error messages you received so that we will understand the problem better. Don't just stand there and watch. Join us. Please do it like I do. If you are afraid of bricking your phone, I'd say there's no need to be cuz you are not gonna be flashing a boot image from another phone. The chances that any harm would come to your phone are very slim. I have tried so many methods on my A25 but haven't managed to brick it so far. So, like I said, join us in trying to root A25.
